When I saw your title,I Laughed.. Cuz the answer is what you posted. Infinity,,when you get bored enough to put it back down ,or to let the oil pump grab a slurp of oil. You can turn fairly easily while in a wheelie. I always leaned,,some use their legs. And of course,,we are talking about sitting down,,knee on the seat doesn't count : )

When I was about 15 I had a brand new Honda Rubicon. Everyday after school I would go practice riding wheelies in a open field befind my house before my parents would get home from work. Even though it was a big utility 4x4 it still would ride a nice wheelie. I rode wheelies all the way acrossed a 120acre feild for hours for about a week until the motor let go sense it was starved of oil. My dad asked the mechanic at the shop if riding wheelie would have caused it sense he found out what I was doing and the mechanic said no because you would have to ride a wheelie for miles to damage it and you couldnt ride a wheelie on a Rubicon. I guess he never rode with a 15yr old that had girls to impress.

Back in 03 I bought a new 400ex then sold it to a buddy of mine and bought a new 04 450R. Then another buddy bought a 450R and my cousin bought a 440ex. The 450R's would go at a faster speed (we all used 5th gear), but my buddy that bought my old 400ex was the champion. I've personally went 3 miles. My buddy on the 400 went 7 miles! We got it on video too! This is also while passing cars and going around curves! Steering at that speed with the front end up is easy by turning the wheels and they cut air and hanging a leg out to grab more air.
The oil pump thing is pretty interesting though. Do you think they were really running dry? I guess it all depends on the placement on the pump in the sump. But both 450's crankshafts locked up in less than 2 years of buying them brand new and mine even locked up a second time after I sold it. We changed the oil religiously with Honda synthetic. We both bought 4 year warranties so it was all on Honda's dime. But those 450s seem to eat crankshafts anyway, my brother has changed 10 of them.
I have a 400ex now but it doesn't have enough power for me to get the front end up in 5th gear. Other people can do it though. My cousin with the 440ex can ride 5th gear wheelies on a stock 300ex.

While I have spent my share of time on the rears on a Rubicon,,,That aint easy! Especially the old styles! I hope you got the girls! That is actually kind of a funny story.. Rincons aren't too bad. My preference was always,,Big surprise,Big Reds, and 200X's. 350X's weren't even challenging, except balancing a LONG ways. 89 TRX 250R's.. Wow,,they come up on the word go!

Those were the good old days. When people would see us coming they would signal with their hands - front end up! lol. All of us sold those bikes other than my cousin with the 440ex, he still does this. lol.

I never could ride those damn things. I tried hot dickin it one day about 18 years ago on my 250r and flipped over backward on a gravel road. Bent the grab bar and ripped the rear fender in about three pieces. That was the last time I tried that crap.

You have to be ready on the rear brake. I scraped the grab bar on my 450R doing a 5th gear wheelie up a hill! Trashed grab bar, tail light and my Yoshimura exhaust end cap. I was bumming. I was able to buy a new end cap from Yoshi, I still have the old one!

200X or 350X are the easiest to learn control on. Foot ready on the brake to bring her back down.

Till I run out of room. I like stand up wheelies, with my feet on the pegs. Do some of those for an afternoon and then tell me how your shoulders feel. Good workout.

yes sitting down or standing up.. no feet on the grab bar or knee on seat. but as far as speed.. i keep a steady 4th gear (around 50mph) has the power to keep front end up at speed. but i can go around turns as well as long as i let some air out of my tires. i feel i could go longer if i could find a road thats long enough. i live in the mountains so a straight road is really hard to come by lol..
