    Compression Release Question

I just picked up a 185S. Been getting rolling on it and found it has a compression release cable that goes to the pull start side of the bike. Can not find a trace of even what looks like a place for the cable to attach. Been searching factory Honda parts break downs and they dont have the style compression release that uses a cable. Does anyone know what should be on my bike or how I could find out for sure. Where do I find the engine number so that I can tell exactly what engine is in it.

Sorry, I should of explained better. I realize that, but internally I could not see anywhere the compression release could attach. I did some more homework looked at some other posts and parts diagrams from Honda and it looks like a 82 185S did not have a cable operated compression release. At this point I am clueless. Any thoughts? VIN says I have a 82 185S so something has to have been swapped right? The stamp on the bottom left under the recoil reads TBO1E 2244664. Can anyone translate that for me? On the back of the cylinder it has 180CM. So 180CM is a 185 right??? Would pictures help?

Very simple look at the top of the head and see if a cable will attach their ? If no cable but a thumb style manual compression release is their that will answer you Q.
You possible have a older recoil on a newer motor .

    TBO1E 2244664 = 1982 185s.

The 82 185s came with the cable operated cable release, page 17.

Lever on the head and the recoil with the cable (page 87).

There may be more pics in the 185s service manual, but I believe most are earlier without the cable.

The 200s shop manual shows it on page 112.

MonroeMike, Thank You that is exactly what I was looking for. So it say I have the correct year and size engine for the bike, chance are someone changed the compression release. Do you know if they are interchangable?

Shortline, Looked at your photo albums and you have some extremely nice looking trikes! Had fun just looking.
