    86 atc 250r engine color

Does anyone know the color code or a paint that will closely match the stock grey color on the motors.
I tried high heat "cast coat iron" by duplicolor, its very close but a bit too dark. I'd like to get as close to oem as possible.
    Thanks Justin

Based on another member's recommendation, I tried Duplicolor "High Performance Wheel Coating", in Graphite color (#WP102). The color is almost spot on. It might be a bit too glossy to be a perfect match though. I used it on my cylinder, which has a textured finish already, so that helped cut down on the gloss a bit. Here's a pic of the cylinder.

I like powder also I have my own little gun and oven set up but my bottom end was just done, so I don't want to take all the bearings and seals back out to bake it. I'll be PCing after the next rebuild just want it to look good in the meantime.

No issues so far. It's only been painted once, and that was at least 4.5 years ago. The picture was taken shortly after that. I just went out into the garage to check on her, and she's still looking just as good. The paint can says it has improved resistance to brake dust, chemicals, cleaning solvents, heat, & chipping.

You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. When it comes to 85-86 250R's, 4 out of 5 dentists agree that I am an expert.

I also used the Duplicolor Graphite wheel paint on Red Riders recommendation and I'm pleased with the results. Its not 100% correct but its close enough for me.

Close enough for me as well. I'm glad you guys like the color. I just wish I could remember who it was that turned me onto the paint, so I could give credit where credit is due. I'm almost positive it was Darius1502 who found the color while doing a restore on his mint '86 250R.
