Good deal? Or Run for the hills?

Houston Craigslist Honda ATC250sx. Looks decent, the seat cover is toast though. He says it just needs a "ear shock bushing". He states he thought the driveshaft was messed up but the bushing is it. $450 OBO Good deal or Run?

Have a link to the bike? One thing that always sends a red flag up for me, is when a PO tells you "it only needs a $10.00 part" but would prefer to sell the thing, instead.

If it is nice otherwise, that seems like a good deal for an sx, offer him $350 and see what happens. Around me if someone had an SX for that price I would pretty much by it sight unseen.

I'd buy it if it runs good. Take it for a test drive? See if you like it then go from there. Price up that bushing and see how hard it is to replace. Bring a compression tester and check compression, see how it ran white, tan, black. Check oil, make sure its not TO low and not to much. Check rear bearings, and what not.

I would buy it all day for 450. I buy non running 200x units for 300-400 just for the parts.

My thoughts exactly. I'm already into a ATC200 restoration right now but an SX has always been the model I drooled after. If he contacts me back I will see what I can offer, go see it in person and make a choice. Every SX I see on CL goes for 1k+. I just dont want to be stuck with a lemon.
