115 is a long way from the 156psi specs..

But people have ridden worse..keep a fresh plug and a top up bottle of oil around and you might be able to get thru the upcoming season..start your top end refresh in the fall perhaps.

Running this way won't do any damage as long as you don't run it out of oil.

Just curious, how bad does it smoke? It's impossible for me to do a compression test on mine sooooo i have to guess lol. It only smokes when its cold out and i just turn it on. Once it warms up it goes away but has been like that sense i got it (october). I'm guessing mine still has a lot of compression sense it's very quick and still puts me back in seat through that 4th gear.

All original still to i believe.

I also see your from Minnesota =D I'm going to try and get a ride going sometime this summer for people in MN, you should come!

Yours could be just a matter of bad valve seals..the rubber in the seals gets hard and brittle over the years.

When you shut the engine off a small amount of oil seeps past the seal and run down the valve stem and sits until you next start the engine..it gets sucked into the cylinder and burns creating smoke. Once the oil burns off the smoking stops.

Why exactly is it 'impossible' to do a compression test on yours?

115 PSI = Bore, Hone, New piston and rings, and make sure to go through the head, new valve seals, lap the valves, etc. A top end rebuild basically. I used to just pull the top end off and drop it at a local shop, now i have to mail them off to get worked on, but either way been there done that and its what your going to have to do.

Burning oil when first started then goes away is usually valve stem seals, i agree on that. But sometimes its rings to, they just seal better as they get warmed up and expand.

Oh alright yea i never changed my valve stem seals.. didn't have the tool. Its no biggie to me sense i got full oil still. Well i cross threaded my plug once.. don't ask how lol it still makes me angry, anyways I can get plugs in just fine so no issue there but plugs must be a hair smaller than a compression tester because i couldn't get the tester to screw in more than half way. I didn't want to screw the threads up to where i couldn't even put the plug in. Stupid mistake on my part but it works fine, and she still pulls hard so i'm not to worried about it.
