I can't begin to tell you how many people made swingarms for the 1st gen 250rs. A lot were even home made and some were copied, so, it's way harder to tell the aftermarket 1st gen swingarms. PK Racing, Hi Performance ATC, Nicholson, Steve Coe and many, many others. Without a bunch of catalogs and magizines, it's very hard to say, and still no guarantee. And sadly, most people are a lot more interested in the water cooled 250r than the 1st gen Rs.

    *Sam Coe

I've stepped outside the community seeking answers. Probably won't report back with what I find out. The info will go straight to the lil book

It's a shame there's not more interest in the 1st gens... Or maybe it's not... MORE FOR ME!!

Hi perf ATC and Nicholson are the only two tubular swingarm builders that I can think of. Pk stuff was boxed steel, haven't personally seen/examined a Sam Coe creation. Did bob dickson do much stuff for Tracey's 250r before they went to husky?

I fail to see your hostility towards the rest of us simply because none of us had the answers to your questions.

I think the swingarm on the 82 looks like it could be a Nicholson maybe. Click image for larger version.

I fail to see how you interpreted the hostility

I'm simply seeking info from someone who doesn't wish to be named or contacted by enthusiasts. That's why I won't report back

No one said you have to reveal your source. Hell you could have not said anything at all and no one would be the wiser, but to imply that you'll seek outside help and choose not to share with the rest of the class just seemed a little odd.

I can only remember 2 companies making a tubular type swinger in the early 80s Champion and Dickson design & development.
I don't remember if Nicholson or HP Atc made a swinger for the stock 250r frame.

That's why this thread almost makes no sense. You live where most of this stuff originated. Your dad knows Wax. Most of the older racers as well as some builders are still around. There is a ton of info that is still out there. Heck, I was given a lot of great info last night and some of it says that what I've known in the past is wrong. Even with newfound answers, it still raises more questions. But those questions will be answered soon as well. There are newfound sources that are setting things straight. Also documented items as well as historical mechanical bits. It's truly mind blowing. If you don't want to share, that's up to you. If you don't want to give credit where it's due, that's up to you as well. If people that give you info ask you not to put personal things out in public, that is one thing. To deny info that can set the record straight as to what equipment is what, is another.

Agreed bkm, shoulda just kept my trap shut.

Thanks shortline n vealmonkey. Enlightening. I had based the nicholson and hpatc guesses from their 185/500 stuff. I haven't seen anything from champion aside from a picture of a tecate swinger, but it was on my mind as a prospect.

Yes, I do have access to lots of the old racers... But it's like this:

Most if not all that I've met have made a point to mention that they want nothing to do with being asked technical questions or being contacted routinely. This being said, I asked the community bout the swingers before I violate their expressed wishes and ask that group of guys. There's a reason only a couple racers have stopped through long enough to be bombarded with questions and for that I thank you Mickey Dunlap, mike Coe, dean Kirsten, and others, but on the same hand this is a major reason the rest aren't on the boards

That in no way explains why you wouldn't share your knowledge once acquired.
