    Pulser coil?

What exactly does a pulser coil do? Could it be a possibility for why I can't get a 85 250es to spark?

The pulser coil is what tells the cdi box when to spark.

As the flywheel spins past the exciter coil, it generates an AC voltage that's sent to the CDI where the voltage is stored. The flywheel also generates a small voltage that's sent to the CDI telling it to discharge the voltage that's stored at the right time. That discharged voltage is sent to the ignition coil where its stepped up in the secondary windings and sent to the spark plug to fire the spark plug.

That's it in a nutshell. A no spark condition can be caused by many things. The place to start is the power source i.e. the exciter coil. The Honda manual tells you all you need to electrically test the ignition parts with a multimeter with the exception of the CDI. Its fully transistorized and require special gizmos to test it. Get the manual and a meter and go through it. Also check your grounding point on the frame where the wire harness grounds to the frame. No ground, no ignition.

a 250 es should always start and run perfectly.
    1/2 kick,

Have you tried the search box for something like:
    "250es no spark"?
    or try clicking on:
    service manual

    We'll get it figured out.
Start with all electrical connections especially grounds.
    new plug?
kill switch which we've ALL missed a few times etc etc.

Did it ever run that you've heard? New to you?
    Pls keep us posted.

    Hello

    1. You need to either have, and know how to use a volt/ohm meter that hopefully reads peaks [fluke digital etc] or have a friend that does.

    2. Read the post below, it has a lot of info you might need including ohm and voltage readings from a properly working system.

    3. Use the OEM Honda manual below to see specs and see how to test items.

    4. Check all connections first.

    5. Test stator source coil for ohm [disconnected] and if good the test for voltage output using pull cord with spark plug removed. May need a volt/ohm meter that reads peaks to do this I’m not sure.

    6. Hope Kbonly comes around to help.

    7. Post all results.
