Maybe. See if there is any other machines out there that use a track set up similar to that.

go for it, it was a lot easier than i thought it was going to be. i way toying with the idea of two skis, but figured that would make it too stable and therefore less fun to ride lol

alright guys, a little update....got the machine running the other day finally, had to clean and rebuild the carb and it started right up. got some snow last night so i decided to put the ski on and take it for its maiden voyage. it handles like its on rails in the snow compared to having the tire on, i love it! it doenst really work on the road though, like a snowmobile doesnt turn very well either, snapped a few pics....

next up is to figure out how to build/adapt a set of tracks for the rear. traction is still somewhat of an issue and i also cant go on the snowmobile trails because i have wheels (got kicked off a trail last year lol). i am going to keep a lookout for on ebay and cl for a set for a 4 wheeler, i think the tracks for a snow blower would be too small after seeing one that my friend has.

so does the ski or skis actually make steering in the snow easier or not because I remember riding snow mobiles as a kid and still having to lean way over to turn.

i will be sure to get a video posted when i get a chance, i was thinking about tire chains, but i think tracks would be so much cooler lol, but chains are definitely worth a try. i havent tested it in deep snow yet but with a couple inches it does really well. but like i said, on anything other than snow, it doesnt steer at all, like a snowmobile. in deep snow i think it will be limited to whether the rear wheels can keep traction, which is why i want tracks, because then it will be unstoppable

that will be interesting to see how the handling of one ski compares to two skis. i had debated doing a two ski set up, but to me two skis make it stable and too much like a four wheeler, and wheres the fun in that? lol
