    200x cr125 hybrid

    Gday guys.
Heres a few photos & quick vids on my 200x hybrid. I've had so much fun on it lately and no dramas except for the radiators being a tad small which I fixed by putting the radiator up on the triples kind of like the early tecates.

    please ignore the no helmet

    bit of speedway action

Interesting. Looks like you left the rear down tubes intact. What did you graph into the front of the frame to get the motor to bolt in....a 125 frame?

Awesome trike! Was that a custom made pipe to fit the frame or did the pipe fit perfectly?

... when did cr125's have recoils????

This guy made his own engine cases before, not at all surprised to see pull start added probably from something similar

Looks cool, I'd love to see what it feels like!

    Thanks for the comments guys.
As for the frame all I did was fabricate two new front down tubes as for the pipe to clear as the stock 200x as you know has the single downtube.i bent up some tubing tacked them in place wwhilst keeping the down dube in to keep it all straight once they were welded in I chopped out the downtube than made my own mounts for the engine.

Now for the pipe it was surprisingly close all I had to do was cut and twist and re-weld whilst taking care not to lose any length diameter of pipe it stayed the same just twisted around on some cuts.I could of ran it with the standard shape ill post a photo of the standard shape and the one I did it just kinda didn't sit right bit to far forward and needed to change direction of the stinger around the frame
This phot is of standard shape although if you were to stand side on it stretches far forward photo is kinda deceiving lol

and this is the pipe on it and modified to fit if you look at the header you can kinda see it sits much closer to the frame

LOL the photo makes the first pipe look better lol also you might notice the photos the engine is tilted forward a lot now ive changed all the mounts and moved it right back (This is where it got complicated)Because the cr's have the through swingarm mounts and the 200x has a sliding swingarm for chain adjustment(which I hate with a passion)so I decide it was either going to be build a swingarm to incorporate the eccentric style adjustment like later model Hondas or cut the back cr mount of and weld new mounts on.Because id already nearly finished my alloy custom swingarm for it I decided on the later option weld new mounts on the cases they turned out really good whick I picked up the standard 200x bottom mount and could now adjust the chain just like standard happy days.

As for the pull start that was surprisingly pretty easy just added a 110 cage to the flywheel machined a spacer to fit the cases and the other side drilled and tapped for it to bolt on lots of measuring etc but was quite easy to do starts so easily and works really well.

cheers guys any more questions ill be happy to answer

Cheers mate.I really enjoy doing custom things and thinking outta the box this trike has been on my "TO DO LIST" for my entire life my uncle built two back in the 80's one for him and one for my ol boy and they allways talk about how good they were so off to the drawing board I went.
It goes so well great power, stops extremely well due to a yfz 450 caliper fitted to the rear,Its very light,They are a really pipey engine if you don't keep it on the pipe its back two gears again lol but that's the fun part I guess.Probably my favourite trike ive built.

    Very nice indeed!

Looks like one of the later CR125 engines. And I'll wager that trike gives most stock-ish 250r's fits!

    '85 ATC 250R

Mart that thing is SICK! I wanted to build one of these for a long time as well. Curt and I also looked at trying to put a KDX200 motor in a 1st gen 200x earlier this year and it ended up looking like it was going to be too much work because of the frame width compared to the kdx engine, but man, this turned out nice. I'm totally digging that pull start setup as well.

Mart you are always amazing, your aluminum welding skills alone are awesome.

You should sell your DNA on Craigslist
