    Yellow plastic and bleach

Is it possible to make yellow plastic turn white by using bleach?
More specifically if I wanted to turn white the rear, front fender and gas tank cover of my YTM-225DX will it work?
I might have to try it on an old pieces of fender...

I would give it a try on an old fender. Because i never heard of anyone trying to bleach plastic. I wonder if it would make the plastic weaker or something. Just try googleing it, im sure someone tried it.
If all else fails leave it in the sun for 20 years and itll get sun bleached.

I'm gonna probably say probably not. I'm sure the plastic is completely yellow all the way through.

I'll preface this and say I have no idea if the platic is similar or appropriate for the technique below, but maybe it is worth a small test...

I used high concentration Hydrogen Peroxide (HO) to whiten the needle and odometer dial on my ATC speedometer. I read about the technique under the context of whitening old computer / game systems that had the classic whitish housing. These housing were notorius for yellowing / browning with age. I found a recipe using HO and Oxyclean and a blacklight. To be honest, I found some technical issues with the information on the net and I think the oxy clean doesn't actually do anything for you, but I used it anyway.

Here's my reasoning why it won't work. Some bleach comes in colored plastic bottles. Why don't the bottles turn white?

If you really want white plastics ship them down here to me and I'll leave them on my roof for a couple of summers and ship them back to you when they are ready.

The plastic is yellow all the way through. I highly doubt it will work but try it out on an old fender and let us know man
