ID:	188905Ok so I got this trike in a trade and immediately fell in love. At first it wouldn't run for more than 5 minutes without dying. So I removed the carb and soaked it and blew air through every port and it ran better. It would idle for as long as you let it and it would run fast, but you would have to baby it up to speed. It would bog if you ed the throttle. So i did a leakdown test and the upper head gasket was blown out bad. So while I'm waiting for my new gasket to be shipped I download the service manual from this site and decide to make sure everything is good. In the manual it talks about the air mixture screw and where it should be. So I adjust it all the way in and then one and a half turns out. Then I notice it has an adjustment for the oil pump. So I take the cover off and mess with that to make sure the pin lines up with the dot @ full throttle. The only other thing I did was drain the gearbox bc the previous owner had it filled up to the "fill" whole and not the "check" hole, and it looked dirty. Service manual says any API cert 10w30 motor oil will work. So I put in Mobil 5000. My gasket comes in and I get it on and start it up. Starts up on the first pull, after sitting for a month I was impressed. Mainly bc before it would take at least 4 or 5 to start it. Couldn't get it to idle by itself though. I had to stay there on the throttle to keep it alive, even after it had warmed up. Then I notice a puddle of oil under the exhaust pipe, and still steadily dripping. So what gives?? I have read that the crank seal may be the culprit, but it was just fine before I did all this tinkering. Could it be the oil pump feeding too much oil?? I would think it wouldn't even start if that was the case. But was me draining the gearbox the straw that broke the crank seals back?? This is crazy. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry this post was so long. Just wanted to eliminate the need for any questions before anyone could help.

    Your about their
Diagnose to now see if it crank seal
Maybe full back up with oil and see how she runs
If your going to rely on the oil injection check it still pumps
Cranck seals aren't the end of the world
Bottom connecting rod bearing somewhat are
Its a yt just find another

    Seriously thou sounds like seals
But I'd fill it for a rip around the yard in the name of due diligence

I vote the crank gasket is the culprit!

I have seen dripping from pipes on 2 strokes that are running too rich. Not to the point of leaving a puddle on the floor though. But yes, I do think it could be too much oil. Also, you mention that your trike runs and idles fine. Often times, when seals go bad, they create vacuum leaks which WILL affect the way the machine idles and runs. If your trike is NOT experiencing any problems, I do not think it is a seal. Try mixing your own gas instead of using the injector pump. Research to see if you can by-pass or disable it without causing any damage.

Well, had it looked at by a local atv shop. Said low compression. Might have to sleeve it and get new rings. I'm scared he's gonna do all that and its gonna be the same thing. I told him I replaced the head gasket and thats when I started experiencing the problem. He said now that the head gasket is good its forcing the rings to work harder and they are worn so it will run worse. Hmm... Idk..

I would say crank seals are bad and need replacing, i would also have the top end freshened up while its apart.

What it needs is to be torn down, checked, measured and rebuilt. Sorry, no easy fix that's worth your time. It's a very simple engine.
