barrnett, I have to change because we are using a custom modded 350X swinger to fit the CR125 motor like the stocker and the factory bearings are just no longer an option.
hope this makes sense. the middle of the swinger will be cut out and the motor will bolt through just like on a dirt bike.

    .
Thanks for the reply, sure it makes sense, and I can certainly see how that can preclude to use of stock bearings, but what I don’ see is how it could prohibit the use of metal or a better non metal bearing than base Delrin, that’s all I was wondering . . Irregardless, you can obviously still switch over to something else later if you want, and what you are using certainly will work . . I just like to Ferrari type quality stiff even if it is a bicycle for our kids, lol . . My main point was simply to show you a few different options you might not have been aware of since I have worked with most all the materials I mentioned . . I added NYLON HS to my list for Ol Deuce yesterday so he could compare them all . . There is really a zillion different blends of material including metal reinforced nylon, and the variety is overwhelming for me to say the least, so I stick to the more common ones to keep it simple but I like to check out new things nonetheless just for fun.

There is even a new non metal material by Dupont called Vespel that is a whopping $4,500.00 a rod . . Some mfg’s use it for bearings and thrust washers in automatic transmissions and at that price I simply don’t see why.

    http://www.dupont.com/products-and-s.../vespel-s.html

I also saw this post yesterday from the guy that is building your Baja bike, so since it sounds like he doesn’t know a lot about this stuff, the info I posted might be helpful to him in some way and he might find some use for one of the products I listed on your Baja bike or another project.

One other product I didn’t mention which is really cool and very durable and not “flexy” is basic Carbon rod with Graphite . . Some paces call Carbon rod that has been “Graphatized”, Graphite rod, however, it is really Carbon rod with Graphite and it is not extremely expensive like the Ketron rod I mentioned in my previous post . . Two big mfg’s of it that sell small quantities are listed below . . You can call them for info . . Just tell them your app and they can suggest something . . There are 4 main mfg processes for this type of rod, and the one I would avoid is called “extrusion” . . This is because it is strong in one direction only, and a rod that has multidirectional strength would be better, but of course it costs more . . You would not want to use a pure Graphite rod for anything other than a pencil.

Just for some perspective for the specification chart, a million pounds lbs is roughly the equivalent of twenty, 1970 Cadillac Coupe De Villes including driver and a full tank of gas, and the ME numbers are pounds per square inch, lol.

I'm so ready to tackle this one. Just gotta clear up some space in my oven of a shop.

I have researched and tested many different materials, they all had more issues, if Delrin works for me and is raved about by people who own gigantic UTV 2 seat buggies with extended arms, 24" plus of suspension travel and huge air, I am good.
