Ironchop look how bad the OEM shock mount looks in my attached pics.

Not sure you can live with all these 200x's running around with substandard parts, these trikes are begging you for 23rd or 24 century technology.....

    OH THE HUMANITY.......

Wow, it's great you got that Cal Fab so you can get rid of that mess!

What brand of chain is that?

    WHOA FUKKURS!

Let's slow down and think this thru.

I used some leftover material to make that one so I'll need to buy a bar of billet. I have no clue what that will cost me until I quote it with my sources maņana.

I still need to figure out how fast I can do these before I priced them. I did Jeff's for free because I got a WC buried in the parts pile that was missing the block and I had no clue what the specs were. Enter RUNMEDOWN (Jeff) and his was cracked and then rewelded and he wasn't sure about using it. I offered to make him one for free to use his old block to dimension so I could generate a program. Win Win for us both.

The cast originals were kind of thin so I added .080 to the OD of the shock mount hole (which means I added .040 or 1mm of material to the wall thickness). I can't go too far or I'm afraid it would rub the selector knob thats right above it. I didn't add any material to the swingarm bolt holes because I wasnt sure the clearance those ends need. The original had tapered ends.

Since I only had Jeff's block and not the whole swingarm, I need to wait until he mounts it to see if everything fits right. I copied the original as close to dead nuts I could considering its a imperfect cast. I also made the webbing between the holes another 1mm thicker than the original to also add strength. I could have beefed it even more but I wanted it to weigh as little as the original as I could.

The original had a hardened steel 2pc flanged bushing pressed into each side of the shock bolt hole. Jeff's is shattered in five pieces and stuck in there good so I left it and designed new Delrin 2pc bushings to press in there.

I don't want to take deposits or money yet. I'd rather have the product in hand before I go collecting money. Ill need a few weeks to get this sorted and I'm also trying to get three guys trikes running good for them to make Trikefest so all my spare time is booked for a bit.

I'll quote the job properly and see how quick I can work it in and then come back with definitive answers and price. Then we can make a new thread and have people sign up at that time to give me an idea of how many to make. Right now I'm guessing ten to start.

Thanks for the interest. I'd never seen as many WCs for the 200X as for all the other models so I assumed they weren't as popular. I guess a lot more people would run them if not for the jank-ass blocks? Is this the consensus?

You are correct ironchop. The 200x westcoast swingers are out there but most, like mine, are unusable due to the worn out block.

I'm glad you are willing to take the initiative to reproduce this part and please keep us posted for any updates. I definitely want one when your able to get to them!

No problem Doug. I am just having fun with the topic and understand way more goes into this process than just asking to have it done. I am no hurry and I think we all are in the same boat. It is good with me either way and on your timeline.

I would be happy to send you my Westcoast as well to mock up.

    Thanks!!

Hahaha. Damn $250 !?!?! a pc....yeah I had a couple complaints over how much my 250R inserts were at $75 shipped a pair which seemed odd to buy a $600 swingarm with junk or missing inserts and then be perturbed over and additional $75 for some pimp stainless units shipped Priority Mail.

I've had a couple of guys on Facebook wanting me to make them bushings for almost nothing, which if you factor in my time, I'm pretty much already there.

How much difference is there between a stock 84-85 200x link and the Westcoast link.Other than stock being steel with a rubber shock bushing and Westcoast being aluminum. I have an oldschool DG and the lower shock mount is like the 83 200x with no link.Click image for larger version.

The westcoast block is quite a bit wider than OEM 83-85 200X block. Not sure if the geometry of the bolt holes is also different or not
