    Frame numbers and production numbers

I have searched and read through the various posts on frame numbers and production numbers and thought I'd try to work out how many ATC125 were made in 84 - since it's the bike I have. I decided to find the first frame number for my model (1984.....JH3TE010*EC000001 and up) and then post asking for people with frames from 12/84 and do some simple maths.

Ran into a problem immediately when I looked at my frame number...it has all the details as a 1984 bike (even the E year number) but shows as manufactured in 11/83 and at number 36146 it looks like 36,146 bikes were made by Nov 83 for a model not released till 84.

Just wondered if anyone knew what goes on with these numbers before I try this on other models.

    Thanks

I don't think they made that many trikes by Nov 1983. I don't know at what month they started for the 1984 model. Might be October-October... If that is what you are looking for(?) At the end of the run is the total trikes produced.

Oct 83 - Oct 84 as a year makes sense but my frame number definitely shows 11/83 and JH3TE010-0EC036146 which seems a huge number to make in such a short time.

I did thanks, it was pretty much the post that kicked off my interest. I posted the link on the ATC facebook site which kicked of a big debate on how accurate they were so decided to try myself with my own model :-)

So if anyone has a 1984 125 and would like to send me the month and year on the VIN and the 6 digits after the EC I could start to work out the monthly production.

I think the production year starts in April of the previous year and goes to April of the production year. It's not october because I have a 1985 atc125m frame that was manufactured 6/84. I also have a 88 250x that was made 4/87.
    1985 ATC125M: Parts
    1985 ATC200S: 84 200S Bottem end, 200x Head, 200x Carb, S&S Cycle Exhaust, Wiseco 10.25:1 Piston, Reground Cam with About 1mm more lift(unknown specs).
    1988 TRX250X
    1983 ATC200E: Total Pile.
