Bought another 86 250r with a couple of goodies.

I swear I was done with these damn things, but here we are. And as usual what was going to be a removal of a couple parts and a flip, now has me wondering what to do with this thing?

I picked it up a month or so ago off of Facebook Marketplace for a decent price relative to the parts it had on it. It has a Calfab plus 2 swingarm, a pretty rare JP racing plus 4 axle, White Brothers shock, and what looks like an Answer pipe.

The swingarm and axle are going on my other 86 that I'm rebuilding back into a garage queen racer and I'llupdate one of the several threads I've started on that bike over the years. But that leaves me with the rest of this thing.

I've got everything to put back to mostly stock except an axle and a headlight. Part of me says power wash it, tidy up a few thi vs and send it down the road, and another part says pull it apart, powder coat everything, plate the oem hardware, and restore it sans oem plastics, that's just not in the budget. Right now as it sits if you take away the swingarm and the axle, I have nothing in it. I basically paid for the swingarm.

So.........whatchya think yall? Give it a good used car cleaning and send it, or do a mild resto?

    Seeing you asked....

You’ve got an arms length list of project on the go buddy. Strip what you want, make it run, clean it, add used or Maiers plastic where needed and a decal set. Should make you a grand for your efforts.

Really the only never ending project I have is the Mustang and that'll never be done. But, I'm kind of thinking the same thing. It's a decent foundation, but god I hate putting new plastic on old paint and hardware.

Other than the cost to plate the oem hardware, powdercoat on the frame, and a new set of Maiers, I have just about everything this bike needs. I've got bearings, oem handlebars and levers, brackets, brake stuff, new fork boots and seals. Damn near everything.

Ya know, it just occurred to me that with a few decals it would make a heck of a nice Chicago Blackhawks tribute trike.

Would making it minty pay back? If so, go for it. We live for wrenching on stuff.

I never said I was going to part it. It looks like it might be going south to New Orleans.

Turns out I don't have to worry about any of this. It's got a new owner.
