    Purchase this YTM 200?

    Hello,

This is my first post, and i am looking for my first trike. I have rode alot of harleys, quads and dirt bikes, but have never owned a trike....

I want another quad so i can feel comfortable taking my kids on the trails with me but i cannot afford one at the time, and i found this YTM 200 for sale for $400 obo... Anyone want to help me with some questions?

    1.) How fast is it?
2.) How safe are they on hilly trails? (i know i know quads suck trikes rule LOL )...
3.) How good of a deal is this?
    4.) Is it a 2smoke or a 4?
    5.) any other ideas??

Thanks, i appreciate the help, just wondering not trying to offend anyone, ive just heard a lot on how tippy trikes are and makes me nervous, the trails around here are nasty...

looks like a good buy to me. does it start easily? from what i can tell in your pics the tires look good. how do the brakes work? will it sit and idle w/o any help? does the headlight work? shake $300 under his nose and see if he bites. it's not a very fast trike, but it's more of a utility trike than sport. it's a 4-storker, and there is a DG RCM exhaust system on the Dennis Kirk website for it, complete w/ spark arrester. If you put a better pipe on it you'll have to keep an eye on the carb for sure. if it's still stock, you'll definitely need to re-jet. I would recommend a K&N as well. as for safety in the trails...don't be afraid to lean!!! =-) this is my $.02. hope it helps.

How fast is it… faster than my 110 but slower than my 350x. lol They are reasonable fast but not a performance machine.

I they are good on hilly trails once you get the hang of riding a trike.

Looks like a good deal to me, if it runs well that is a solid $500 trike.

It is a 4 stroke, chain drive, auto clutch, 5 speed, no rear suspension, pull start only trike.

Yes this is a pro 3 wheeler site but most of us realize that not everybody is meant to be on a trike, quads have their place too. There is a learning cure with these things but if you are a good rider on other machines you shouldn’t have a problem.

First one for me was a 200ek shaft. Tough as a tank, goes in water like a submarine. Brakes are a weak point. It will wheelie like no tomorrow, watch the turns, it will tip easy. She'll do 45-50 mph roughly, maybe a bit faster if yours is on a chain, can't see if it is from the pics. It's great tough bike! Looks in great shape.

You have to use some common sense like you are buying a car or motorcycle or what have you. Does it look beat to death? Are the tires worn out. Do the brakes work. Is the cosmetics trashed or fair or perfect. Is the engine an oil soaked mess with a bunch of busted fins and covered in oil and such. Pull the dipstick, how does the oil seem, old and tired, freshly changed, or oil with average miles or time on it. Pull off the fender, how does the wiring look? Halfway decent or like it has been rewired by a 5 year old. Do the handlebars look all bent up? Does it start? If it has an electric start does the electric start work? Willl it idle? Will it rev? Will it shift and move forward normal like? If it runs do the lights work? Do the wheel bearings seem shot or are they nice and smooth? Do the wheels look like they have been hit 50 times with a 10lb sledge. Is the frame all rusty like it has been parked outside forever or parked in a lake or ocean. We can't tell all this by 3 pictures. And none of that matters if the price isn't in your range anyway.

Ive got huge pics the guy emailed me but it wont let me download them, he has them locked or something.... Its immaculate, i would eat off the engine! LOL.... Tires are brand new, everything works as should according to him...

Going to look at it tomorow night and buy it if its as good a runner as it looks, where can i get parts other then eBay for this thing, looking for exhaust, pistons and sprockets.... Saw an exhaust on denniskirk but i would need jets wouldn't I?

Anyone know if the DG is louder and if i would need jets?

Sorry about the newb questions im new to trikes, done load of work on bikes though!

If your pic is too big it won't allow it. I can't remember what size it limits to for pic attachments. You should upload them to Photobucket and post the links here.

DG pipe will be LOUD (some might say obnoxious) and you may have to rejet. I had one on my 300ex and it made a lot of noise but I don't know if it really did anything as far as performance.

I just picked up a ytm200e, Its in nice condition. I just tore it apart to change the oil, filter, and work on the electric start.

I only road it for like 5 minutes but I like it.

he started off at 700 for that trike (odviously too much) but $400 is dirt cheap i'd say you should buy it and enjoy it. I wouldn't think it would be worth it to modify if. If you want a faster machine buy a faster machine.....
