seized front axel

So a front axel is seized..tried soaking it in pb blaster and heating it up still cant get it out....what do you guys do to get them out? thanks alot Cody

Put a block of wood up to it and give it a super solid whack with a 16 lbs. sledge ... You may need an extra set of hands....

the threads on the end are seized so the axel wont come out of the forks its not seized in the hub

did you try a long breaker bar? I had a similar problem. I heated the fork, oil, heated more and then used a long breaker bar w/ pipe on end to break it loose. It didn't want to move very good, it came out. The next problem was the bolt was seized in the hub spacer, that was a whole new adventure. End result was the axle was no good, fork had to be heli-coiled(stripped threads), new axle and bearings. Its gonna get ugly real quick.

yea thats what i was afraid of...its not my bike it is a friend of mine he had the same problem on his big red and he ended up with a 5 foot cheater on a 1/2 drive he snapped the front axel...i have tried everything i know to do...

+1 Soak, heat and 3' breaker bar! My frt. axle on the 350X was a PIA too!......By the way, SORRY about the last few posts.... Been drinking too much lately!!Beets

If the bearing welded themselves to the axle, you could be whackin that all day with no luck......Just recently, tried removing a swingarm axle from a warrior for a buddy, and that happened....used a large sledge, almost full swings, aleast 100 times, heated, lubed, seat for a couple days in lube....after countless hours we got it out...but bolt and spacer were ruined..........Id say good luck.......maybe press it out if you got use of a press.

Heat the thread up and stick wax on it will melt and suck up into the thread if that Dosnt work your pretty much up a creek

Using a breaker bar is a poor idea on a seized bolt, or axle. Use a good impact wrench. The front axle was siezed in the fork on my BR, Use a impact wrench to try and rattle the axle out... Using a breaker bar will more likely trash the axle. The slow twisting action will probably twist the axle off, where as a impact is less likely to twist the axle... I work in a street rod shop, so we deal with frozen hardware all the time... Penetrating oil, and a impact wrench.... Dont be afraid to let the impact rattle for a bit...
