    Carb tuning question...

So you guys are probably getting tired of hearing about my big red carb... Got it rebuilt, had the drip, shimmed the float with a beer can, blah blah blah... Got it put back on the trike, NO LEAKS! Hooray! Anyway, fired it up, took it for a spin, it has a little hesitation from idle to 1/4 throttle. Adjusted the pilot screw per honda specs... Seems to me that its running a little rich... My question being, what is the pilot screw controlling? Is it metering air, or fuel?
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!
