No... that tire is not meant to be ridden on the rocks in Vegas.. but merely to sit in a shop or garage on display.. They turned down the $1000 tire.. to make a buck .. like a lot of bucks... a lot...

"expect to pay $3,500- $4,500" I can only think of one item made of rubber I'd pay that much for. A condom, but then I'd need a time machine to get back to 1985 to put it on...

I keep wondering how he is in business charging $5k for a vending machine refurb or $3k for a Coke cooler... But to each his own. There was a discussion ad nauseum over on a lawn tractor forum that i visit now and then about the Bantam tractor restore he also did a while back. Most discussing that said they could buy 2-3 of the same tractor for his price.

I think I saw what looked like a handlebar lock like on the old trail 90's.

Phone rang right in the middle of the show so I didn't hear it all.

A resto of that price would be for a wall hanger for a dealership or bar
and then buy a 6 pack of regular 90's to ride and get dirty for 1/6th the price imo.

In plain english.. Have your item (on this case your us90) "restored" by some dude = $3800-$4800 BUT... Have your item "restored" by a "celebrity" on tv.., and get your mug on tv...well now that comes with a hefty price tag.. Hence the $7800 price tag .. Think about it..

Oh yea i got to see the show last night as well, Man after seeing that disaster My prices are way too cheap (LOL) . they took an almost 100% original 1970 US90 and turned it into a turd. I wish they would show more of them actually doing the restoration so we can see what they actually do , but I am willing to bet that nothing came off the main frame and got restored notice they never really pan around the underneath or engine of the bike just the new shiny yellow paint and seat that looked like it was floating 6 inches off the rear fenders . this crap kind of makes me sick , I like the fact that a US90 made it on tv that gives the bike some credit but to call this a restoration and charge pretty much what I charge for 2 months of hard work and building a bike from the ground up not missing a single detail is crazy. I do enjoy the show but it gives the general public who dont know the wrong image of what a true restoration is . this was basically a paint job with a way off black tank stripe and a floating seat bars bent up like a harley and probably a half ass engine overhaul. crazy

It is a good show to watch, I like it a lot, but much of that stuff is set up for the cameras. A friend of mine appears on Ice Road Truckers occasionally and does a lot of things behind the scenes and he says most of it is rigged which is why every crash scene is filmed from ten angles. Again, I like Rick’s show (especially the way he doesn’t flip out like old man Teutul, I worked for a guy like that, hate it!), but I'm sure he does a lot of studying up before he talks about the inner workings and history of some of the things they get in there, how could he not? I'll add "Rides" is a slap in the face for restoration guys. I'm guessing there are either a few dozen part & labor sourcing guys we never hear about working behind the scenes, or those projects take a lot longer that we ever hear about. Thanks to that show guys now routinely show up at my friends body shop with a gutted out Mustang on a trailer and ask if it can be restored for a special occasion that's coming up in two weeks. At least Rick’s time frames are realistic and he’s a hands on guy.

Yeah thats the one thing that drives me crazy about these build/restoration shows on TV, "I need it in 2 weeks", "No Problem, we can do that". It is all BS, there is no way that any of these places depicted on these shows are finishing builds in 2 weeks. I watch the shows about West Coast Customs quite a bit, and I am always paying attention to the cars that are sitting around the shop when they are filiming and you will see cars that were on the show 2-3 seasons ago sitting on a lift next to a car they are working on "this week". It just makes people think they can do things like you said El Camexican, bring a car that needs a total resto to a show, and they have the gall to say, "I need this is 2 weeks." My response would always be, "Come back when you have 2 years", you cannot restore/build a car from the ground up in 2 weeks, I dont care who you are or what size crew you have. Something is going to get overlooked.

Has anyone seen, Jimmy Shine's show, Car Warriors, thats another one, they give each team a car that has had all the body work done and is sitting in primer, and they have 48 hrs with a team of 6 guys/girls to build a custom car out of it, complete with new engine. Another one that is pure BS.
