    1984 200X seat bushing question

    On my 1984 200X, the bushing that goes between the tank studs and the front seat/fender mount are rubber. Someone just told me their's was nylon, or plastic. Anyone know what they are supposed to be?

    Reason I am asking is if they are plastic, I can reproduce replacements on my 3D printer. I am already doing the 85-86R ones. Also if anyone has an idea for a product and can send me accurate dimensions, I'll give you 2 free sets/pieces for helping out.

    My 200x has rubber bushings same as the 2 front tank bushings . I think nylon/plastic would work just as well.

    The originals were rubber. Plastic would be durable but would rattle. I use thick wall rubber hose from the auto parts store. You can sleeve one size over another larger one for the desired diameter.

    If I design it, it won't rattle. Good idead about the hose, but a little to goldberg to me.

    Item 20 are "seat to frame". The rubber tank ones you want are item 4.

    The rubber tank mounts are often referred to as isolators. This is because they isolate the tanks metal mounts from the vibration and twist of the chassis. If you use nylon, and make it tight enough that it won't rattle, then you are stressing the tank. They use rubber for a reason.

    I looked at that microfiche. item 4 is not the items I am already selling. Item 4 is the rubber isolater for the tank, not the piece that the seat hooks onto. Also that piece on the 250R is plastic, I have the originals, and saw several others. But the 200X is rubber I guess.

    Ahhhhh I totally missed that! Dont know why i was also focused on the isolators.

    I'd would think Nylon would work fine for the seat mount bushings! But ya the 200x are rubber.

    This piece I am making has nothing to do with the tank-frame isolation. On the 250R they come plastic, on the 200X they come rubber. I see no reason why the 200x ones can't be plastic as well. But I don't know everything

    The good side is if plastic doesn't work out for some reason, I will be printing in polyurethane as soon as I sort out the extruder problem with printing flexible materials. I am going to give plastic ones a shot first as I think they will hold up better. The polyuurethane I will be using is not fuel proof, and being so close to the tank could pose a problem.....maybe.

    Hey it's all good, I appreciate the help!

    Well I made a first run at the 200X bushing tonight. Did 2 designs with some test material. Looks like a winner. Should have them for sale in a few days. I think nylon will work fine. I also incorporated a "shock absorbing system" into the design by not making them solid. I may play with that a little more to perfect it.

    Actually, item 20 IS the seat mounting piece you are making I assure you, 100% positive, guaranteed. You are just not understanding the parts fiche which is totally understandable, especially considering it is a Honda one.

    It's uh…less than “ideal” how they show it but that’s no surprise. It would be clear if they showed them with the frame but they can't because it is part of the seat mounting.

    The official name for it is “seat, front catch” or “front catch, seat”.

    Notice how they also only show one of those and one of the rear isolator bushings, collars, washers and bolts for the rear. Well there are most certainly two of each just like there is in the front.

    Also look at bolt item 21 that looks nearly 3 times as long as the front mounting bolt. Well it is only 3/4" longer.

    Also, notice that there is only 1 of item 23. Really?

    Yea I guess that is the piece, but it does not go like the diagram says. I am pretty familiar with microfiche myself, and that one is wrong. That whole assembly goes on the outside, not the inside, (well both actually) and the plastic latch piece is reversed, hence the confusion. I also take offence to you calling me a Honda rider/ parts maker. I own Kawasakis, Yamahas, and Hondas. I will be making parts for all of them (not really offended j/k). Let me know what you need
