    Just got a 200X!!!

Yeah I did!! After taking my hopped up 200S to the sand dunes a few times I reallized, I need something with rear suspension!! Man my body hurt after taking a long run over a ton of woops!! I could keep pace with most of my friends over most of the dunes, but once the trail got that kind of rough and techinical the hard tail "S" just falls behind.
So, I saw in the classifieds a few 200X's. Usually they are all $600 and up. But there was this one, an '84, for $300, but doesn't run.
I picked it up for $250! With a spare set of tires on aluminum rims.
I'm really excited about it!! Even though it doesn't run I'm looking forward to rebuilding it and having a good time on it!!

It needs a front brake assembly. (lever to caliper)
Needs a stator cover, its cracked.
Missing the chain guard, at the drive sprocket.
Anyone that can help me with any of those items, let me know.

Its a very clean nice looking trike. From its condition, I bet it just needs it's carb cleaned or something.

Ha!! Yeah, that my 12:1 comp, bored, ported, polished, piped 200S.
The tires are just victim to age, and sun rot. The front finally got a hole in the sidewall and it was totally flat. Had just a mile to get back to camp so I rode and finished off the front tire. Still need to get a new one.

$250, nice deal, bikebandit.com has the sprocket cover for $75 http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit...me~ATC200X.asp or you can get it on ebay for around $40 their missing because the chain pops off and busts them. suspension is great.

Well I think I figured out why it won't start... It pretty much has zero compression...
Pulled it apart and it apears to be ran without enough oil.
The piston is completely scored, as well as the cylinder. Rings are welded into the piston, and not even scraping the walls of the cylinder.
The cam ground into the head pretty nicely. Such that it wobbles up down to and fro.
Kinda sucks.... But hey!! At least now I get to rebuild it and power it up a little!!

I think i'd be stealing the parts as well. You already know what you got on the other machine, and if you sell the S no one will give you enough to pay for all of the motor work.

Anyway thats a great deal for 250.00 looks like newer 400ex wheels/tires on the rear now. I think you'll enjoy the X a lot more than the S anyway. Any if you dont i know for sure your back will appreciate it...

Actually, If I told it for, anything I'd be making money off it. I was given the S for free. I did all the motor work myself. Bought the pipe used for $30, and the 12:1 piston new off a well known auction site for $40, I think it was, gasket kit for $30 or so. Oh, I did have to have the cylinder bored for the piston, cuz my mini mill is to small to handle that job, so another, $50. I've really only put $150 to $200 into that trike. Tore down and refinished myself with a paint can.

I will enjoy the X!! I know for sure. My body will most def!

Man just goes to show how much people make who work on these things. Thats a great deal to get a rebuilt better than stock machine for only 200 bucks plus your time. I've also learned to either buy them done, or rough but not in-between because if its not all redone it will take more than its worth to get what you want...

Good looking X I picked up an 84 last weekend for $175.00 it's supposed to run but it's missing the clutch hub and kicker gears.
