    Shifting problems....

I was riding my KLT200 around this afternoon and while attempting to put it back into neutral the transmission stopped responding to the shifter. It just springs up and down without engaging anything.

    Where do I start?

So, I guess my question is, do I have to completely disassemble the engine and transmission to get to the shifter or is there a quicker way to get to it. I looked at it for a while and it really looks like you have to break the case down the middle to get to the shifter.

I can get the part for $30 but is this a 2 week project?

Since people like pictures--here's the trike. It's fairly clean for a KLT and it runs well so I'm balancing whether it's worth it to fix the shifter or just part it out.

idk about the klt but i would think you could just remove the right side engine cover and pull it out and replace it. thats how it was on my tecate.

first look if the shifter his torqued properly onto the splines of the shift shaft.
Second: do like gofast said and remove the right engine side cover and look what going on in there.

The shifter is attached to the shifting rod correctly so it has to be internal. I'm headed out to crack it open now. Thanks!

Shifting problem...well, that was easy. (pic)

Didn't have much of a problem getting in there. I think I'm going to replace the clutches while I'm in. I've been noticing some stiction when I first shift into gear.
