Put together auto-x today!

after setting the valves and timing today, i put my 185s motor i bought yesturday on my 84 200x roller. i thought i had some 200x motor mounts but cant find them, so i rigged up the 185s mounts until i can find some 200x mounts. i changed the oil, pulled it and it fired right up, doesnt smoke a bit! its a little rough now but give me time. i have no brakes on it right now but im workin on it. i drove it around and she has more power than i expected. i used the 185s carb, will the x carb improve performance? i also used the 185s wiring not the 200x wiring. i am aware that the 200x headlight will be dim so i am just thinking of using the bulb from a 185s (lower wattage). well just thought id share. tell be what you guys think i should do next. thanks alot!........ 2hundredx

good job man!!!!!! now all ya gotta do is ride it. oooo and get some brakes. if you want i may have some spare brake parts around for the rear brakes.

How does the 185 feel compared to a stock x motor? I was thinking i had to have a 200s donor but will the 185 move it around well enough?

yes the 185 pulls the x so good. the throttle isnt as responsive but it has great power, more than i expected. i was kind of worried about making an auto x but now that i have, i would do it again. i think that the 185s would be just as good in the x as a 200s. the bore is just a little smaaler, but the 185's have a higher compression piston. plenty of power if that is what you are worried about!

i was running a 185s cylinder on my auto-x till i went to a 200s motor and i loved it. but then i went to a modified 200s motor then another 200s modified motor and decided i liked them more.


but i dont know what it is with a 185 motor..... seemed a little more low end than these 200s motors ive bin running. well the stock 200s motors.

yea that is a strange size. but id ride on em i like the looks of em.
