Finally got my R frame back from powder coat! And it is about damn time. Ive been cleaning everything and piecing it back together most of the afternoon. Hopefully it will be all done by the end of the weekend. Just a few odds and ends that need to be touched up yet.

i put the top end back together on the '84 R, started it for the first time, and took it for a quick spin. no brakes so it was a little scary

    '85 350x- the P.O.S. needs everything

Been holding off on running/riding the 250R because I have no silencer on the bike. So I decided to get at the quad (86 350 honda 4x4) - it needed a new battery so I went and picked up an exide super crank select. Got it home and filled it up with acid and haveit on charge out there now.

But SO want(ed) to ride the R. Came in the house to have dinner and heard a knock on the door - postman!!

    EBAY PARTS!!!

My 250R silencer, rear brake pedal and shift lever!! (My old shift lever is/was a welded hybrid from a big red - ugh)

So after lunch I'm gunna head out in the shed and install the 350's battery, stick a new plug in her and then install the silencer and shift lever on the R and give her a whirl. (I don't have brakes on the R - I just bought the rear pedal for when I buy a brake setup in the near future.)

Took her down the road, onto the tracks and popped out into the park down the road a bit and took this.........

If you can't fix it with a , its an electrical problem.

85 ATC 200s--Ratted out and not running at the moment

86 ATC 200x--All stock other than the handle bars

85 ATC 250es Big Red -- Just got new rubbers and she wants to ride!!

04 Suzuki LTZ250 quadsport - It was a decent price and I'm a raging idiot.

Working the night shift this week. I went out pulled the front rim hub off the 350x to replace the bearings. Got the old trashed ones out. Just have to repack and replace with new ones. Installed the new grabbar(new to me). Trying to get a hold of my buddy to go fab up my swing arm skidplate brackets. No answer, so will have to wait another day or 2. Sometimes seem to take forever to get things back together.

Cool pics jonpin!! Very nice of you to 'rescue' that stranded quad with the trike.

Good ole trike - one less thing to worry about. hehe

So - went out to the shed and installed the new battery for the Honda 350 4x4 - slapped a plug in and it fired up great. Ran the bike for about 25 minutes and it backfired when letting off the throttle and then started to sputter and died. It started back up and ran pretty good all the way home and idled fairly good in the driveway. Still don't trust her enough to go on a long trip. After riding a while she just get's 'boggy' then sputters and die's - strange.

So I got to work on the 250R - *groan* the exhaust tip was NOT a s'lip on' but was the exact same size as the expansion chamber!! Oh boy - drove all over town looking for a length of steel pipe to make a 'sleeve' to connect the two - finally found a piece and it worked great!! Bike sounds better now, actually idles better and felt a lil more tourqey (is that a word?!)

I also put the new shift lever on and it feels much better then the frankenstein home made shift lever I had on her before hand.

The exhaust tip is a sankei brand by the way - anyone heard of them before?

Believe Sankei was the oem manufacturer for Honda atv exhausts. Or at least back in the day. They made both 2 and 4 stroke exhaust systems.

Your right Ed and they still make some of the honda car exhaust systems today. They probly even still make the stock motorcycle and atv exhaust systems too.

I have a feeling that silencer was not for a first gen R. But w/e if it works good run it. BTW, your R looks awesome

Try flipping that silencer over. Loosen the mount if you need to. The tip needs to be pointed up.
