oh man i had forgotten all about Hoosier making knobbies, yeah those are rad looking and a real gem in the collection.

My next tire purchase



18x10-8 Hoosier slick...just gotta do a bit of grooving..

The Ohlins shock has been a pain in the rear but thankfully Milner (onformula1) has been extremely helpful and it should be back together soon and better than ever. He found some strange things once he opened the shock up far as how it was built and the fact the shock has no compression knob almost made me wanna replace it with a more modern unit but it will be good.

Got the front brake master cylinder today from British Royal Mail, only took six days to get here from London so that was not bad. It has a 16mm piston and is meant to deal with a 160mph road race bike so im expecting some serious stopping power.



Next project for me is getting some new brake lines made, the front got damaged and has a kink in it and the rear has always been about a foot to long and bugs me since it has to wrap up around by the back of the engine to fit. Doug at Pirtek http://www.pirtekusa.com/products-services/ set me up with a new custom made hose for my Ohlins shock and was great to work with and very helpful so gonna have him make my brake lines as well, more expensive but worth it i feel.

went to put the new chain on and of course its between links in size and i have no sprockets to add a tooth..nothing can be easy can it

Looking good, I am always surprised on how fast British Royal Mail is, some countries take months.

each time ive had to get hardware from Hong Kong or Taiwan it took 5-6 weeks but it was free shipping so get what you pay for i guess

Try getting parts from Italy, it's clocked in years.

Man I admire these builds so much (the Tigers, Franks). Love it. It's a pain to build a Tecates, so I can imagine building one of these.

I had seen that Hoosier a little while back. I have an extra 8 inch Franks rim and hub set up. I thought about trying to groove it and use it as an alternative. I would have the need to make it straight like it was machined. Do you have a plan of attack or do you have a VERY steady hand.

@OC250R - i was mostly just kidding about using that tire but first id have to find out its weight and thread depth. I watched the team Honda Ohtsu tire techs groove slicks into what could pass as production tires with out guide marks or measuring so it can be done but id likely use tape or white paint to mark my groove lines

Some of my friends have been using American Racer Tires and love them.

Trouble with the American Racer Tires i have looked at is you are either stuck with a 16 inch tire or a 10 inch wheel if you want a 18 inch tire and that does not work for my setup.

John, when you get your radiator back from Myers can you let us know how it turned out? I have some I need to get cleaned up and was thinking of using them.

@phantomtracer - Will do, i am having the full "reinforcement" treatment where they break down the radiators to their core and fully redo all the welds so they should be like new when i get them back end of this week or sometime next week. Ill post pics soon as i get my hands on them.

John, just in case you weren't aware, if the piston in your new master cylinder is 2 mm larger than your old one for example, and the hand lever leverage ratios are the same, the lever will travel around 25% less than the old one and will also have a noticeably firmer/less spongy feel . . It will also require much more force to stop [25%], so if you don't like it, you will need to run one with a smaller piston since running a front caliper with a bigger piston is likely not practical in your case.

@barnett468 - I do not recall the piston size of the master cylinder first on the bike but it was also meant for road racing/drag racing like this one so hopefully they are close or the same in size. With the steel braided lines our Franks bikes had little or no lever movement before it would go full stopping power (i liked the brakes on my Honda's more once we put good pads and steel lines on them).

Ill have new brake lines in a week or so, ill post the results once i get them bled.

@onformula1- thanks, can also get some wiggle room by going back to rubber lines if it is overly stiff.

Got some new rear tires for it today but having a struggle with myself over removing the old RAs since it will likely destroy them doing so (one has really bad cracking on its sidewall) so not sure what im gonna do yet as im not really keen on spending another $180 on some Douglas wheels just so my RAs can hang out and rott more.
