Beerside those tires I dont know. dcreel the tarantula had 12 inches front,13 inches rear travel.Probably 4 inches of sag.She was a little tall for tight stuff, but in the whoops, nothing could touch it.We tested it in 3 foot whoops wide open, no sweat. we have video. Allen Fox still has one of those kits for a tarantula in a box. Mike

Hi You-all... I haven't had much time to spend here lately, but I do check in to see how the thread is rolling. Glad to read Robin, and Mike Hallett are now on-board. We all had so much fun in the early '80s with these 3-wheelers. Just a quick thought... San Diego has always been a mecca for these ATCs, so if you are looking for the older models, make sure you check Craigslist for San Diego, and type in ATC. The world will open up once again!

Do you have the video or know who does? If you guys have a hard copy of it (VHS, beta, etc) you could send it to me and I'll upload it to youtube or my server and send back the tapes.

Does anyone recall a trike called "Frankenstien"? I know it's in this magazine I just don't know which one! It's gotta be one of the early ones. I think it's a 90 with a XR200 head and jug on it or something similar. I know theres a thread on here right now with something similar, but this trike was featured. Please help!

To add a little flavor to Dean's picture…that is Matt Hildenberg front and center, Bruce Simurda to the left, JW above Bruce, me to the right with Bruce Stjernstrom to the right of me along with a friend of ours…John May. Marty Hart is above right of JW with Darryl Bassani above me.

As you can see…we were well on our way to having a good time and it got better/worse! The girl and I think her boyfriend, the blonde guy to the far right…had the table, but we took it over, we had no idea who they were and really didn’t care, that’s why he looks the way he does…he was pissed. The girl ended up latching to one of the above names the rest of the night while we were in the bar.

The ride back to the hotel was just as entertaining…OK, out of control.
Once at the hotel, one of the above names decided to nose the rental car against the side of the hotel…then drop the …and left it dropped for a good 3-4 minutes. It was a nasty smell, but we all had a lot of fun!!!

    3 wheeler magazine question?

    Hi,

    Great website!!!
I have spent much time reading Coe's thread!! I raced at the Batavia, NY Nationals and the Lyredda (sp)Lynns Race, either 84 or 85 cannot remember, except that Mary Hart Lapped me in the heat race! I still have almost every 3 wheeler magazine, Dirt Whees and ATV News, but I do not have the first few 3 wheeler magaxzines. I can picture the first one I saw, it had accessories listed, lighted antenna was the one that comes to mind, anyone have that mag.
What month and year was that?
I can remember going to the magazine shop and buying that magazine with my dad, that quickly turned to me/dad purchasing a 1980-KLT 200.
I have almost every mag after that.
Mike Coe, I cannot believe that story, I mean I believe it, but at the time I never gave the points a second thought.

At that time I was totally bummed that 4 wheelers were taking over and I was going to college, I ended up racing a YZ 125 the following year.
i would never race or own a 4 wheeler!
At the time they were seen as too easy to ride and a joke!
I can remember when a 4 wheeler knocked my brother out of first place in a local race and kept on going, that hurt!
We always thought that 3 wheelers were much harder to ride and we would ride 2 wheelers in-lieu of the quads.

I am really interested in the TPC 3 wheeler. can that be raced in the quad class?\
What month is the the AATVA woods race discrapancy noted?

I cannot believe I just simply read over that without a second thought.

Great website, thanks for all the memories,

    Phil Rode

Hey anyone heard from old fart lately?! Sorry I've been away. I'm on 2 other boards, moderating one on women motorcyclist for Brenda Fox. Long story...will post more later. She's battling breast cancer and other health issues...former 3 wheel racer. If anyone wants to donate to her cause, 100% goes to medical and drugs (she has no insurance and no family support) http://starride.net/brendafox and check out her other site where the chicks hang http://womenmotorcyclist.com . Anyway...I'll get more pics and stories up soon.

It may come as a surprise to those I know, but I have recently sold all my quads. And I sold 2 old 3wheelers, so now I have no dirt toys. Only my Manx-type dune buggy. The Economy and the Politics involved with the desert and riding here in SoCal have taken the fun out of it for me. I figure someday when the economy flips around, I can always buy a new quad. In the meantime, I'll get busy with stories. I think I'll have to write them down in WORD and then copy them over. Maybe that will be the start of my book!!!!

DEAN KIRSTEN....if you are out there message me!
