i drove half way across CT to trade my good old sled for a basket case 350x. it needs a lot of work, but is complete and it has the side cover for the electric start, just no starter:(
Lost a bolt down in my clutch cable adjustment area - tranny oil started pouring out. Put another bolt in and the head broke off. So now I have a bolt in there I need to somehow get out.
Drill and use an 'ez-out' or whatever they are called. *groan*
Worst is - the bolt was too long anyways and now it's in there and I can't 'squeeze' my clutch. *double groan*
At this pace I'll never get the bike tuned for the new Bassani pipe.

Ran into the back of my friends quad with my 85 250es and bent my front rack ,and handle bars i managed to stay on the bike though ,brake lever busted me in the finger,"sux not having brakes":),my friend had just stopped right after a berm cause ppl were walking on the trail and it was dark to .im gonna try to get those brakes working again. they always work fine till i take it out and they get wet and there done its horrible, i hate drum and cable brakes.

decided to tear into the 85 t3's rear end and get it ready for the new +2 franks swinger i am gonna be putting on it. then decided to start cleaning up the swingarm and started stripping the paint off it so i can either get it ready for paint or powdercoat, maybe might even go with chroming it.

the 200E has been ridden wuite a bit latley. i'm goign to look at trading the tires on the rear out for different ones as they have too much tractino where I wide and are wearing out too fast on the pavment. i will keep them rim mounted for times when i go into the bush or sand only. I'm going to look at getting a cheapo set of trail riders. what do you guys recommend to do as far as rear rim choices? I know i may have to change the rear (brain is fried form work) peices where the tires mount, but what shoudl i change it too? would a 200X be a better choice? if so what wheels will work with it? i need something durable and cheap!

I had my 200m out yesterday and took it around for a drive in the snow until I noticed oil leaking out by the pullcord. I took the pullcord off and found the oil was coming from the crankshaft seal. I took a seal from a parts engine I had and fixed the leak. After fixing that leak I noticed the valve cover leak has become worse and now is dripping onto the starter. Now I know the oil pump works.
Tell me how that bassani performs saul!
More bottom end then stock but mid range and top end is now insane!
It has a nice mild-ish powerband but when it comes on 'up top' hold on!!
I'm getting the tuning down close now - need a few more main jets to really dial her in. But I'm gunna wait till the 34mm Keihin shows up next week before I dig too deep in my tuning cause I know I'm gunna have to start all over once the 34mm shows up. And I also have a reed space that has to go on when I put the 34mm on. LOL

I dropped the needle clip another notch today - now the bike pulls even harder down low, middle and up top. Kinda beastly when that pipe come's on.
About the spacer - I've read you can put them on two ways - the way they are 'meant' to go on, before the reeds or you can put the reed block in, then reeds, then carb boot for a low power 'hit.'
Anyone with experience wanna chime in?

My 34mm Keihin showed up today so I guess I'll be swapping out the stock 27mm carb for it later this evening. Also picked up some Amsoil wet clutch type oil - so I'll also be changing the oil while I'm out there.

I opened my bedroom door last night and looked at the triz covered in about 12 kingsized sheets...just sitting there on my porch. It's dawned on me that I may never get to that project...and it isn't really practical to do so either. So yeah, anyone want a triz? I may be willing to deliver for a fee.
I also looked longingly at the shed as I passed it, wishing I could go play rather than go to work.

me and a friend headed out to my house, we took the carb off the tri moto cleaned the jets and it started to run like a fricken champ. so he hopped on the 125 and i got on my 200s and we headed out on the trails, i love riding my submarine :TrikesOwn
Very mild weather here today so I decided to drop my needle clip a couple spots. In hindsight I shoulda just dropped it down one notch. The trike was a lil boggy in the mid-range. I think having the clip on the second position from the top will be great for the rest of winter as it gets cold. Hopefully this spring/summer having the needle all the way lean will work. If not I guess another needle or something.
I also decided to change the tranny oil today and try out the new Amsoil 4 stroke wet clutch oil I found. It seems ok.
I was happy to see, while changing the oil, that she hadn't dropped her oil level any - so I guess my crank seals aren't leaking oil up to the head or anything.

The temperature warmed up a bit today, so I put the front tire back on my 200m after I took it off to put it in my basement because the valve stem froze. I had the motor running for about 30 seconds, just to see how hard it would start with the temp being in the -20's the past few days, it hasn't been running since Monday, and it was about -18 today. It didn't start to bad, but I had to run it on 3/4 choke and it wouldn't idle.

redneck250es and I went for a woods ride on some trails near his place. Man what an awesome time, I'd say it was the best wheeler ride we've had in a couple years, but it was hard going and we were soaked through to the bone when we got back. There was some mudholes that when we got off to push it was over our knees and I think we were the for at least 45 minutes getting both Reds unstuck. These holes were passible a few weeks ago but now there is over a foot of snow down in the woods and with ice breaking up it made for an interesting trip. Wish we had some pics avail. Maybe next time.
There a reason the big red is the best woods bike / mud bogger, cause you can get a good red down
stripped out every wire and cleaned em' up and re-routed them a bit.
There was about a roll of electrical tape there. The ground to the coil was rusty so I cleaned that up - traced back the wires for my head and tail lights etc etc.

I live where the ice storm hit a couple of weeks ago, and there are limbs down everywhere, so i've been using the 200e to pull some pretty good sized limbs up to cut up and pile. My trike has been seeing some pretty heavy use the past 4 days. Also last evening i finally managed to tear into the 125m to see if the chain was broken or just came off---I got lucky it was just loose and came off! Slid her back on, tightened it up, and off i was good to go~~~~~!

The great gazoo and I worked on his 1980 yt125 today. His clutch was slipping and before he bought the trike from me I put new clutch fibers and clutch plates in the trike. I found out the problem though, the clutch plates were a little too thin and we needed to replace with thicker clutch plates. We used the clutch plates I had in an old yt175 clutch basket and reassembled the clutch and everything was fine. We were going to use some heavy duty clutch springs, but bent part of the clutch while putting in the heavier springs, so we just used my extra assembly with the clutch springs. We removed a busted off bolt and was going to remove a second one but ran out of time. He got to test ride the 125 without the rear fender and he seemed much happier and said the clutch was no longer slipping.

Well went out this morning and put my new (well new to me) front axle on my 185 monster. Went on without a hitch. I was starting to get excited. Knowing this machine has sat for some time I got out my starting fluid. I went to open the throttle up so I could get some fluid into the carb and the throttle would not move.... sprayed some carb cleaner in it to see if it would free up but I guess I am going to have to take off the carb and soak it and clean in out...That is a project for another day. I had to go out to my dad's to help dig a hole so we could bury my grandma's dog... long story in its self. Damn that ground was still frozen for about 6 inches down. had to use a pick ax.

Well i picked up this little 350x 2 weeks ago today, it came with over 1250.00 in motor/chassis bearing receipts so i called the shop that built it and he said they had over 1800 in it and the price was less than the motor work. It wasn't really painted the way i wanted it to be so last night i repainted everything that was baby blue but the taillight bracket, i put some decent z400 stock wheels/tires on the rear, white maier plastics, changed the oil, replaced a leaking fuel line, tightened up the rear end, polished the upper motor fins to take away from the drab black, and tried to clean it up a little.
The frame was pc'd but its not super good (ended up kind of dull), as well as the front and rear hubs, headlight guard, foot pegs and rear brake lever. It's a nice super tight machine and i have no idea whats in the motor but the whole bottom end was redone, crank was machined, bored with a new piston, all new valves, oem timing chain, oil pump, it just goes on and on. The best part is this thing flat out flies.
My only other plans are to buy a junk or plastic tank because the one on it is dent free, and i'm gonna take off the headlight because its a lot cleaner than most aside from the one lens. Oh yeah and i plan to ride this one as much as i can. We're going out around lunch time today, TC...

sat. we went ridin for a good 2 hours or so. the neibore guy who's 2 blocks over and has the woods behiund him we ride at has some cheapo chinese quads. i fixed 2 of them so they coudl ride and one was a kiddie 50cc. my son had never ridden anything like that before, he has a sitting area where in front you can view about a 150ft dirt oval where the kids can learn to ride and use throttle control. my son spend about an hr just doing circles cause we were teaching him throttle control and how to sue the brakes correctly. by that time he had it down pat! in the middle of it are 4 small trees and some flat rocks that minda stick up and a stump or two. he started workong on manovering through the trees, over the rocks and stumps on his own. he naturally woudl roll up to the rocks, roll the fronts voer and slowly and easy tap the throttle to get the back tires over the step and he was off and going again! i was apaized at how easly he learned on his own! we didn't teach him that! the atv had died a coupel of times on him and he watched me start it. the enxt time it dies, he started it himself. i was like WOW he's too smart! He learned by just watching! It's exciting to see your kids not only learnign but having a blast while doing it. over all was a very fun day. the neibor guy and his older son (whos's cheapo quad kept having issues) took turns ridin my red and they are gettin hooked on trikes. haha he's saying he's liking it more and more. the kdi loves it he says compaired to his quad. more power but it's more of a fun ride than jsut sitting and turning. (which is what i have always preached) the quads had slight issues throughout the day, but the red has not a single hickup even with abotu 2 hours of running time solid on it. they have a big kawa 4x4 quad 360 model that was getting a bit warm and they had to turn off every so often. not the red. it's be left ideling while we were eating and what not.
Just put a 200x front end on my 82R. Love it!!

Disassembled and clleaned the carb. I had a new float bowl gasket cut at my Yami dealer. I will be putting the carb back together tomorrow and hope she cranks. If she fires up, this will be her final run before she gets torn down (if there aren't any more issues).

Put the 250R fender on the front of the 200x, replacing the pink maier vented fender. Pulled the rear wheels off to replace with the 18" turf tamers supposedly on 4x110 wheels I got off ebay. They don't fit, going to have to go tomorrow and have the turf tamers put on the 200x wheels. Replaced the whole brake system on the 200X. It now has rear brakes. :w00t: I'm excited.
Now if I win the Bassani exhaust on Ebay. I'll be stoked and the wife will ride the 200X. As soon as I get the thumb throttle on there.
I got the stator cover to remove the Goki starter monstrosity off the side. I'm afraid of what I'm going to find underneath it. I know a toothed gear is pressed on to something. I will have to remove that. Then it will be whole again. woot woot!!

Today I took my 200m out for a drive around the yard. I realized that I can now stay on top of the snow where I haven't had a trail at all this winter. I took some pics while I had my trike going. The piece of wood sticking up I about 5 feet long, and only 2 1/2 feet is sticking up.

Worked on the rear swing arm on my 250SX, doing a little overhaul, did the tear down a few weeks ago. Bead blasted all the parts, bought a powder coat set-up from Eastwood, got a free oven and started to powder my own parts. Super stoked about the PC, still figuring things out but I have been very happy with how it's going. Just did an assembly to see how it all looks together, still need a bearing and seal kit for the diff and a few other odds and ends. With how the swingarm assembly looks I feel bad about putting it on the old beast, but eventually I'll get to the rest. Also got some of the Evapo-Rust some of the guys have been talking about---that stuff is da bomb, eats the rust right off of the hardware. I wish I would have know about it years ago!:w00t:

What i did today was go mining for 200x's lol, more specifically my 185autox as you can see it was deeeeeeeep... it was covered at the start of winter, but it somehow is missing its cover :wondering Anyways all is well, theres a little surface rust on the forks i need to clean up and the tune up stuff, but couple pulls and she was purring like a 185 should lol. Sorry about the pics, they were taken with a cell phone.

As you might notice the handlebars sticking out on the left side of the pic, thats the 185s, awaiting a new wiring harness for it. and not in the pic is a cr250 COMPLETLY burried... sigh I'm tired of shoveling.

Hit the trails today and ended up getting swamped at a creek crossing that was about 2 feet deeper than it was on Sunday. Ice on both sides, front tire hit the underside of the ice and that was it. No where to go. Pulled it out myself by hand in about 2 minutes. Gotta love trikes.

Worked on my carb for a while, AGAIN...Lost the spring on my pilot screw and never found it. I knocked of the work bench. Now, I have to order the whole set just for a spring...My own fault.
Can anyone tell me if the o-ring on the needle jet is the same one that goes on the valve seat. After 25 years, they are shot. All the one's I have found have been a close match but just not good enough. Guess I will be ordering that too.
At this rate, I may never get her running good before I tear her down.
I now have the brakes complete except for new brake cable springs...It is not a part you can get anymore and mine are collapsed on themselves. At least I haven't been able to find one. Looks like a trip to the hardware store for a close match.

working on the 350x 450r conversion. Tore the swinger out and did alot of measuring of the frame and 450r swinger to figure out how much needs to be machined of the swinger. Got the die gringer out and cleaned off the paint and all the places were the gussets are going to be welded. Cleaned up the 450r motor and figuring out all of these wires...Thank you Brapp for the cluster F*ck of wiring. hahaha.
