C Lets say i'm cleaning my gun and I "accidentally" fire the gun into the apartment below and the bullet kills someone. That is an accident, but I am still responsible and will face consequences.

No offense 'sox, but the scenario posted above wasn't an accident, you were negligent in your handling of the firearm:

If you are cleaning your gun, why is it loaded?

If you weren't sure it was loaded, why are you messing around by the trigger?

Point being, if you had followed all 4 of the rules you never would have negligently fired your weapon killing somebody. Right?

My god Scooter, who the frig cares? Most of us are very well versed in firearms. Nobody, not even Damon is saying he didn't frig up. It's like you're just looking for an argument.

If you are so well versed in firearms why couldn't you pick out that he said semi auto and not revolver?

If repeating a valid and extremely important set of rules keeps someone from getting injured or killed, then I'm guilty. Go ahead and criticize me for it.



My point was more focused on his "hair trigger" excuse. Dis- or mis-information is one of the biggest problems gun owners have. Stupid and untrue information and stories is why we have such a large group of individuals who want to ban guns. They believe everything they hear when guns are made to look bad, especially when someone gets hurt or killed. Excuse the fvck out of me if I wanted to provide some information correcting your assumption of what Dude meant (due to your lack of reading comprehension) and how it all pertains to trigger types and a hair trigger.

You know what? There are more than likely some here who didn't know what I posted about triggers. They might appreciate that info. Hell, there's three other types of common triggers and some of those have a couple more variations. I'm sure the others who are very well versed in firearms will excuse my info on triggers.

Don't give me that "If you don't like my posts" crap after you quote me. I'm not defending Damon or anyone, merely pointing out that you said there is no such thing as a hair trigger. Call it what you will, but the same gun will have two very different trigger pulls depending on how you use it. That's all I was saying, and I was right. Right after I got home from Iraq, like weeks, I had just blued my Beretta .25 semi-auto and the rounds were getting jammed when I tried to cycle it, they wouldn't eject. So I was cleaning and wiping and cycling trying to get the action working properly. Well wouldn't you know it, I somehow pulled the trigger and shot out the window of my apartment at that time.

I was raised with guns having been taken to the shooting range from a very young age, I was obviously in the army, and for ten months of the year prior to this incident I had a fully automatic machine gun with me day and night, that I had to use and keep clean and "clear" multiple times daily when entering chow halls and such. I slept with it every night, and if I had to go somewhere without it, it would require a sitter. So I know friggin guns Einstein.

Yes scoot. I am aware. That is why I put the quotes around "accidentally." The scope and subject of the entire post was how intent is relative to penalty. I used the loaded gun example in reference to the weapon most commonly involved in negligent discharge, Glock pistols. The act of pulling the trigger to release the slide in the process of breaking down the gun is, in and of itself, in violation of the rules. Glock makes a fine gun. But that is a flaw. My point being that there are a wide degree of variations in intent and negligence. Someone cleaning a Glock, who simply mistakes the order of operations in breakdown (rack, drop mag, release slide instead of drop mag, rack, release slide) and kills someone downstairs through a floor is less culpable than someone who picks up a gun and pulls the trigger.

The key issue for many folks are elected officials that provide sanctuary to illegals living in America......Can't blame you for not recognizing the problems Glamy pointed out because it really is easy to not see or feel the effects of illegal immigration in Iowa.

Most Americans have no issue with legal immigration considering a good portion of people in America today had family who legally immigrated to America. What seems to occur with more frequency is the lack of assimilation, and only showing up in this country in order to take advantage of benefits that should be limited U.S. citizens.
