That's got to be the coolest one I've ever seen!
I've got a few oddball ones that I picked up at garage sales, swap meets, etc... but nothing with a cool story like that. Thanks for sharing that.. now I want one

I've been riding since about 10yo, but I'd still like to take the course if it'd lower my insurance. I'd like to think I could show up and pretend to be new and by the end be the most improved student. I like gold star stickers, they make me feel good. I was trained in elementary to work for gold stars.
Burnouts, wheelies, and doughnuts would probably be frowned upon, but little bikes are so fun to do those on. Can't wheelie a small bike some may say, but put my weight on the very back of the seat alone and with a little clutch work, up the front comes.

Do it! I had a blast!!!
My parents insisted that I take the course before riding on the street and paid for it.
One of the exercises was to drive towards an instructor who has both arms straight up in the air. At the last minute he drops one of his arms and you’re supposed to counter steer in that direction. I was on a 250cc Suzuki cruiser. When they said go I dumped the clutch and pinned it. By the time the instructor realized that I was about to crash into him he dropped his right hand in a panic and I went hard left. I put the foot peg into the ground and bent it enough to crack the alternator case. I thought I was going to be in trouble, but it turned out the instructors thought that that was the coolest things they ever seen a student do to one of the bikes.
At the end of the course, one of the instructors pulled me aside and asked if I was interested in trying road racing. He said his buddy owned one of the Yamaha shops and that there was a good chance they would sponsor me partially if I was interested. Being the complete idiot that I was I said thanks and spent the rest of the summer banging one of the girls I met in the class. She ended up being the girl of my nightmares. God, that was like 37 years ago.

Something else you might enjoy from Cuba. He brought this back for me on another trip. They told him that it’s their way of letting the outside world know how poor their living conditions are. I hope the details in the photos are clear. You can see the toilet with no seat, and even the moss on the roof.
After the Fidel took over nobody has been able to improve anything. Time just stopped.

Left an impression, did she?
I think I looked at the cost versus the insurance discount a couple years ago and it'd take a couple years or longer to pay for itself. That's not even including my personal time. I pay my bike insurance once a year and it's pretty low already.

I had a thrilling bicycle ride this morning.
Got chased by a wild hog. Big momma didn't like me trying to take pictures of her babies.
I rode out of site on the dead-end road and waited for a while, then I slowly walked back out looking for them. They were about 80 yards in the woods, and big momma was still there, watching as I rode past.
Going to have to carry something with more power next time I ride that way. I've seen hogs several times while hiking or cycling, but this chase was a first.
Edit: Including some pictures from today's ride.
Here's the important one.
Notice both sides of the leaf litter on the road are torn up. I thought some hogs had been there in the last day or two but was still alert, just in case. Yep!
It's not just if they cause immediate physical harm either, any injury by them and the danger of contagions they carry can cause problems later.

Southern states don't have a problem as recognizing them as a...problem, but they aren't fully engaged in eradicating them either. There's a whole list of animals that were wiped out, or nearly so by humans, yet southern states act like it's difficult to intentionally wipe out feral hogs. Put money on the snouts/tails and watch them disappear is short order. Traps aren't working.
"The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recognizes large-scale trapping as the most efficient and economical means currently available to reduce feral hog populations."
They cause millions of dollars of damage, yet traps are the best way to remove them? Arkansas needs to spend some money and get serious. They aren't spending it on the roads and infrastructure anyway.

dropping a sent of really cool rims and tires off at my local dealer to mount up. $20 is not worth my time to struggle with tires on fresh powder coated rims. I have a blind 200x build going.
I installed the new stator in my XL6 and it's running again. Hooray!
Since I drained most of the oil to replace the stator, I done an oil and filter change too. It should be good for at least a year because I don't ride it much. I really like the bike and after it was 'totaled' in a crash, I rebuilt it, but I'm always thinking it's time to let it go. Prices aren't high enough, even for really nice ones, and wouldn't cover the cost of a newer used dual sport thumper in similar condition. It may be because they're kickstart only, but it's always been one of my best starting bikes (unless the stator took a dump).
Here's a picture of the ol' girl in Idaho, some years back.
Time for some cold ones.

The weather has been cooperating and I've been able to get several bicycle rides in each week. I haven't done much riding in a while and my rear needed a few in a row to get comfortable again.
For anyone feeling a bit down/slow, I'm hoping they can get some exercise in and perk up. Even a short walk can do wonders for the mental and physical state.
