thanks for yalls opinions, they count.
I had a klt 185 and never had a single issue w that trike at all, it had a super strong Honda passing motor and reverse but it did handle terrible!! I had a Honda 125m and it handled excellent but my friends klt 110 absolutely smoked it in drag races, was almost ridiculous how much more power the kawi's had!!
I ride a suzuski 125 right now, decent bike, handles ok, not as good as laydown Honda motor but has better power for sure. The zukis have bad tranny issues though.
we need that 125 shootout by dirtwheels to stir things up, was a good issue wish I still had it to post on here.

    Nice , Bike.
    I also bought my 86 125m for $400
It also had the OEM tires like new on the bike but they had flat spots from sitting to long with low tire pressure.

There is 2nd gen 125m parts around, just not on eBay. Rather in fully assembled trikes. Reason being is that they are well built very strong machines and the ones that you find are usually in someone's backyard. It may have lost spark, and the first thing a normal person does when they hear that a stator is discontinued is park it and buy a quad or whatever. If you want oem parts to fix it, you'll have to be patient and search a bit. There is other ways around it, which may involve some wire splicing, and customization.

Bottom line, that machine is sweet and its likely just a few beer drinking nights away from running. If the seller is willing to cut a deal, snatch it up. Save it from the loneliness and elements. Even if you part it, you'll likely double your money over time. I Hope you get it.

Well I am happy to say the 86 Honda 125M is sitting on the back of my pickup.
Chilly day outside, had to pull a few times to get the tires out of the frozen ground, but it has a new home. Quick look at the speedo if accurate is 190 miles. Pics to come when fingers warm up..

Congrats man, those trikes are pretty rare, i would have kept mine if was more than a frame. parts are hard to come by, and considering i was gonna spend end up spending at least $500 to get a motor and rear fender, (If I could even find one!) and that the 185 engine i planned on using wouldn't fit. it was too much project for an amateur without a good Mig Welder to work on.

Still, I wonde how it turned out, The guy I sold it to planned on doing the swap as well and was quite good with a welder from what he showed me. I sold mine for $100, but it was just a rolling frame with a gas tank
Never forget the past , but dont dwell on it.

Well as can see in the pics to come, all the tires are shot, although not unexpected. Fenders are in awesome shape, no cracks. Tank is solid although I will be dumping out the 1/4 tank the of what used to be gas, and then have to wash tank out. Just a bit of surface rust showing inside. Got a nice suprise when opened the tool box lid. Inside was the pull start recoil and bolts to hold it on, rear rack bolt screwknobs. As said earlier 190 miles on speedo and wouldn't be suprised if it's accurate, as it's a clean machine. I did get a great deal on it. When I stopped today to see if he had a price yet. He asked if $250 was ok with me. I didn't argue, was going to offer $200 if didn't have a price yet just to get something started. He handed me a few parts he had. Not sure if they are the old parts or ones he intended to replace yet. But enough ramblin now. On with the

Wow, those models are great looking. Nice find and way to pursue the deal. Let me know if you can't find the parts you need to get fire. Last time I checked there was a parts trike near me. Good luck on the revamp...

That coil looks like it is from a lawnmower, I can see the curve shape for the flywheel for the magnet to go by it.

The CDI/Starter relay look correct for it though. CDI being unhooked could be why no spark?

Anyway, here are some service manual key pages for ya incase you didn't want to download the whole thing or haven't gotten it yet.

I noticed the starter is black while the rest of the engine is silver, not sure if that is the orig starter for the machine, maybe from a 250sx? I'd be careful if/when you try to start via battery unless someone can confirm it is correct.

If you have any issues with the ignition switch, you can disconnect the green or black/white wire to make it "turn on" you won't have lights (including neutral etc i'm 90% sure) unless you connect Red and Black.

I'd say the check out the wire harness pretty well too, since it has sat out in the weather for so long, it might be brittle and falling apart, corroded connections etc. I'd be primary worried about the cdi plug if the cdi is actually out of it, naturally connected it is sealed off quite well. The other possible trouble area would be the flag spade connectors on the coil as they are more exposed up at the front of the machine. If you can bend the wires and the insulation breaks, it is a sign the harness is shot. You could "repair" it but the best thing to do is replace it if you want a reliable machine.

Good luck and let us know what you find during trouble shooting =).
