I finally got around to replacing this on the 110.

    Attachment 268923

It's blown out where the pin goes and the later ones are updated to two pins and a flange head bolt instead of a tappered head screw. I guess it was an issue.

The screw holding it on was loose, so either it blowing out caused the screw to loosen or the screw loosening caused it to blow out. The bolt holding the detent lever was loose too. Who knows. At least it's shifting correctly now. It was a good excuse to clean the centrifugal and screen oil filters anyway, both of which had very little in them.

This is the one I built the suspension seat for. Riding it back to back with the other 110, I forgot how much difference the suspension seat made. Not only in smoothness but in overall comfort because its a few inches taller than stock. Riding and dismounting is a seated position instead of squatted. That does increase the center of gravity though and the suspension seat one has noticeably less weight on the front tire when going uphill and when accelerating.

Bored. It's been raining all day.

Having a beer and typing here. Thinking I need to do a little more camping and I'm a bit of an idiot for not going more often because there's all kinds of oportunities within a 50 miles radius. Need to get a fishing license too, then get a hook wet. I've got some new fillet knives that need broken in.

This coming from a guy who's slept in enough WalMart parking lots that if they had a stay reward card, I'd get a lot of free stays.

Those were the good old days.

When the kids were little we would plan our trips around Walmarts in the RV.

I don't know about other places but in California it's hard to find one that will let you stay.....as of 8 years ago or so. Maybe now it's changed.

Thank you homeless for ruining it for us.

I've had too many work benches that end up moving when you're trying to work on something big, and they all had plywood tops. Specht hooked me up big time with the plastic. That really makes the bench. The metal I had bent up by an Amishman. The bench is attached to the wall and the main part of it is made with 6x6's.

I've had this grinder for a few years now and I've been really looking forward to getting it going. It's an Atlas grinder hone model 2400 from around 1953. It was covered in oil so I assumed it was leaking the last time it was used, so I went ahead and ordered new sealed bearings before I even bothered turning it on.

The upright shaft has these flat seals, they're like washers almost. I wanted to replace them, but I wasn't able to find any replacements. If anyone can find anything comparable to an Atlas 993-001 fibre washer please let me know. It looks like that shaft was leaking but the area the seal rides in was very dirty, so it may be OK after being cleaned up.

The top stone is reversible with a different grit on either side.

I feel like if I measure the fibre washer I have a replacement might be able to be found, but it has to be the right thickness or it's not going to work. ID and thickness are more important than OD. I could theoretically trim it to the right OD but I'd rather not have to. The first one on this list looks like it has potential but I cannot get that website to open.

Wow is that bench stout...well done! And imagine a tool that is still serviceable after almost 70 years which you can actually rebuild! I think you'll find a carbon washer fairly easy even if you need to trim it. Go old school and use oil soaked leather, lol. Maybe consider bolting the legs to the floor...you're stronger than you think when lifting up on a piece in the vice.

I feel your pain....stay warm! Looks like we're getting a small break in weather finally. I don't think our dog has been able to go more than 1/2 a block in well over a month now. She'll be happy.

Reading some news articles about Arkansas and enjoying the comments. It's bad, nobody should move here. Look elsewhere.

I got a short bicycle ride in. It's been a while and I need to get back at some higher mileage rides. A few 50+ mile rides a week is where I need to be at and a 100+ once a month just to stay in reasonable cycling shape.

IDK....and I certainly can't speak about Arkansas first hand, but I think home is where you make it. After reading the article and the comments, is it really unsafe for folks who don't go looking for trouble. And does one need a huge social network if they're well and good on their own. I like the mystic that I feel when I think about the cool factor of Arkansas being and old time coon hunter from back in the day....sigh. Maybe my vision of Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky is out to lunch but I picture rolling hills, cool streams, quaint towns with hounds sleeping on porches and hot sticky weather.

Probably a bit too naïve being a frostback from the North where you're expected to help burglars steal your stuff then apologize if you scratch it.

    In some cities, yep.

That's pretty much it except for the cities. In Arkansas, anywhere with a population of about 15,000 or more is a city by our standards.

It seems just about all US cities are crime centers now. When I travel, I seldom stay overnight in any city, or even stop to eat or shop is I have valuable things hanging off of my truck. Crime per capita can be worse in rural areas, but then again, it's easier to find out who done it and then deal with it. With cell phones and social media, when something is going on around here, there are already peole driving around with guns to check it out, well before police may show up. The criminals would rather the police find them first.

Lots of people are feeling that way now. Really, it's past time too. The future of the US work environment is looking like it'll be filled with whoever they can hire off the streets. Crackheads will be driving school buses. Too many companies and buinesses with poor managment that were simply too lazy and spineless to weed out the bad ones or incentivize the good ones to stay.

I opened my paycheck to $1 more an hour, cool. Still hate the Job. Could add about $7.5 more and hour to where I use to be....eh I'd still not like the job. But I have a family to support

Yep, got to take care of the family.

I'm hoping more people are able to become self-employed or at least find employment with a company that has and practices good values.

Swapping out the alternator in my Case 1840 skid steer. It's a bit of a pain in the arse since you can't get to the belt tensioner very well unless you pull the radiator. Fortunately removing the radiator is pretty simple and quick.

200.00+ for a friggin alternator. Allegedly there is a mod you can do so you can use a 80's/90's GM alternator, but not in the mood for those type of shenanigans when I'm working outside in the winter
