Valid point.

I also considered making my own like the ones in the link but either way, it should probably be chained

The engine mounts made from hard urethane will also increase vibration in the chassis over stock type mounts, I guarantee it. In some cases they increase vibration by just a small amount, and in other cases, it is a very noticeable increase and I have experienced this first hand countless times because many people that came into our shop wanted the urethane ones installed.

You can also simply drill right thru the center of some mounts and install a grade 8 bolt with a grade 8 flat washer on each side and some type of lock nut or double nut it, then tighten it so there is around 1/4" of free play.

A 3/8" diameter grade 8 bolt is more than sufficient in the majority of cases.

Used to hate tire changes. I do it rarely and only on off-street vehicles but I also hate schlepping tires and rims to local guy and wasting his time to put on tractor tires etc.

The scrapyard harbor freight holder made it marginally better but my old tire spoons range from frustrating to lethal.

After breaking one putting in a tube, I sprung for a ken-tool tire iron. What took 20 min and a lot of cussing took 1 minute

Amazing

There isn’t a lot of shops around here that want to screw with any off the wall tire work anymore all they want is the quick easy work. Especially if it’s a off road tire.

ANOTHER SUNDAY RACE REPORT

TEMPERATURE - Over 100, ie, "fkng hot", I have no idea how those Baja guys do this but I'm way impressed.

HOLESHOTS - 2 out of 4 starts. Both holeshots were in the same class which is the same class the photo above is from, from the last race with this club at this track.

CLASSES - I was thinking about racing 3 classes (6 motos) like I tried to do last time, but I am recovering from a 2 week long cold, plus it was blazing hot and I knew I would need all my energy if I was to be competitive in the 2 classes I signed up for because they have some of the fastest non "Super Pro" riders (Scott Burnwurth is a "Super Pro") in them.

The class I passed on was the most correct for my age and current skill level which they call "GP1 60+ intermediate open class" which means you can run any size bike in it that is 1980 or older. My 81 qualifies for this class because it is basically the same as the 80 model. The reason I passed on this class is because I was confident I would easily win it and wanted test myself by racing against better riders, all of whom are younger than I am, and some of them have newer bikes (up to 1986), and against more riders at a time.

FIRST CLASS - This one had the Super Pro's combined with it which included Scott Burnwurth, but the specific class I was in was scored separately from them. I got a crappy mid pack start and passed one guy whom was one of the faster non Super Pro's in the club, and this was enough to win this race in this particular class.

On the start of the second moto, my bike hooked up around 100 feet down the start straight and it nearly looped out, and while it was wheeling, it started drifting off to the side and almost ran into the guy next to me, whom fortunately backed off enough so we couldn't collide. I ended up in mid pack again because of this and got stuck behind a slightly slower rider because it was mostly a 1 line track due to their standard over watering of it and grading it too deep.

I was finally able to get by the slowpoke by cutting to the inside of him just a little then nailing it down the back stretch, which fortunately I am extremely fast on. It as a double jump near the end of it which I can jump over farther than anyone in this club, and actually clear it by enough that I land on the flat ground after it (which is a little hairy to do), then it has a big, banked, left hand sweeper immediately after the jump, so l held it on over the jump and was then even with him approaching the sweeper, and was also then going faster than he was.

I held it on longer than he did approaching the sweeper and I then had to drift into his line a little because the track was f'd up directly in front of me, and when I did this the whiner started yelling at me like a baby that just had it's sucker taken away does. I guess he didn't realize what the term "racing" meant and expected me to be courteous and simply follow his slow ass around the entire time...well, I'm pretty he sure he knows what the term means now. I won this race as well in my particular class so I won the overall with two 1st place finishes.

SECOND CLASS - This was the new class they call "CENTENARIAN", which name sounds odd and a little too fancy to me. I think they should simply call it "CENTURIAN" because it has that Roman warrior sound to it. Anyway, this class had the same fast non Super Pro rider the other class had whom I just beat, plus it had the reigning 60+ expert champion whom is also another one of the faster non Super Pro's in this club, and both of these guys are the ones that beat me in this race last time, although I still won my particular class.

Anyway, this one is simple, 2 holeshots and 2 wire to wire wins, :Bounce however, it was not without something interesting. In the first moto, I had around a 50 foot lead the entire time and was going around 90% to reduce my chance of crashing. In the second moto I had around the same lead half way thru, then I started going a little faster hoping to discourage the 2 top guys in the race from trying to reel me in, and I kept hearing a 4 stroke somewhere behind me but I didn't know quite where he was and just figured that the nearest guy to me was one of the two fast riders.

Well, on the last 2 laps of the race, I realized that the guy on the 4 stroke was the one behind me and that I had pulled out a pretty big lead on the two fast guys I wanted to beat, but now this 4 stroke guy is actually making up time on me, so I changed my line in the last 2 turns and stuck to the inside just to insure he couldn't make a last turn pass on me, and I easily beat him to the line.

I slowed down right after the finish flag so I could see what type of super modified vintage 4 stroke he wad that could keep up with my Widowmaker, and when I saw it, it looked like it was some worn out 70's era Honda XL 200 or something, however the engine and suspension was modified. So my elation for beating the two fast guys on their highly competitive bikes, instantly turned into mild depression and discouragement after finding out I almost got beat by someone riding a friggen 40 + year old mid size 4 stroke that has less suspension travel than my bike does. Guess I better go practice some more. :(

I know that feeling. In my street bike club I was regarded as the unofficially second fastest guy in any given situation. Much of this was attributable to my ridiculously overpowered liter bike. Normally I'd be content with second fastest anything, but the undisputed fastest guy in the club rode a single banger 650 BMW Adventure bike and was so fast in the corners that unless the next straightaway was at least 100 yards long I couldn't pass him!

I hear he has a little electric scooter now, so I'm avoiding him completely rather than risk going for a ride and having him pull away from me on my 900SS.

I never really messed with one but after the tech attempted his “fixes” at 500$ a pop it was time for me to fix.
For 20’ doors the springs massive.

Flat ground the B16 has pulled it OK but turning was never ideal because the front and was a little bit light

I added 75 lbs to the front, 24” out and it still floats the front end but I unbalanced machine a bit. It couldn’t handle going uphill

Geeze. What a week. GF water heater blew up and flooded her basement. Insurance involved. Tank is a rental. Sooo. Insurance comes in. They have to gut the carpet and salvage what they can. All good. Dryers are in place as well as dehumidifiers. We need a new hot water tank. Guy comes to install it. WHAT A HACK. After he left and was going to come back to complete the install the next day. I told them (on the phone) he is not aloud in the house and I want someone to fix this properly. Gas line was touching the tank. 2 water leaks. We had to shut off the main to the house due to leakage.
259586
259587

Short story long. After tons of emails and fighting on the phone about this. Another guy comes in to complete the work. This guy knew what he was doing. This is the way it should have been done. A water heater install should take 1-1 1/2 hours on average in these types of homes. The second guy took about 2 hours to fix all of #1 guys and made it right.
Final install. It looks great and done properly.

I know, right? But, the air valve was at the top of the tire, while mounted under the truck. Don’t know how to check that, other than a kick, without dropping it.
Surprisingly, it had #25 and since I had a pump-no worries.

Edit: I’m worried now-wth did he do to my tire? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190805/1a21809cfce1b65cfba15208dc44861f.jpg

I took it to the only shop I know of that’s open Sunday and since I didn’t buy the tires there, it was $12. No big deal and since I’m not keen on just anyone touching my truck, I told him I’d put it in the back. Wish I noticed it then.

Just scored on this JSC frame today. Stoked to add it to the collection, we will selling one of our Nicholson's.

Latest update to this story. We listed a 185 frame for FREE,. This guy came to get it and told us he was a sandblaster. So he took this JSC frame for us and is going to sandblast and powder coat it for free in exchange for the 185 frame and other parts we had for it.. A good day today, yes indeed. We took this 185 trike in on a Nicholson frame we purchased and being we don't deal in 185's we were glad to have it out of our hair.
Furthermore the guy that sold us the JSC frame his father in law was a master tuner on trikes back in the day here at our local Honda dealer. (Ed Eddy ) winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Wanted to replace the headliner in the boy's car before he headed off to school.
It was held up with thumbtacks to keep it off his big ol' pumpkin-head.

changed the electric starter motor on my ‘90 arctic cat jag 340 deluxe.
probably would have been easier if I had taken the exhaust manifold off but instead I just disconnected the muffler (2 tight long springs, 4 tight small sprigs) and moved it out of the way as much as I could and had just enough space to get a box wrench on to the securing nuts, and for some reason the nut for the power cable was smaller. probably got a quarter turn at a time and had to flip the wrench I don’t know how many times. had just enough space to finesse the starter out and got the new one in. long springs were a pain to get back on, they had to stretch far while going under the muffler, impossible to use needle nose pliers, ended up using a piece of strong string about 2.5’ looped around the end of the spring and was able to pull it under and get it hooked on.
Ingenuity.

This weekend is our annual cross country trip to Cuatro Cienigas.

Started out with our paramedic/paramechamic deciding that rather than ride in the big truck he’d rather drive his mini-monster truck.

259821

259822

I don’t think anyone other than him expected the truck to make it all the way and sure enough, 80 miles into the route he’d gone through all 4 of his spare tires and broke off two shocks. What finally stopped him was that all 6 studs on one axle stripped out and then broke off.

259823

Then I seized my engine and one of the quads died, so at this point I’m not sure how we’re getting everyone home. There was talk last night of bolting a wheel onto the truck with nuts and bolts from a hardware store and driving it slowly to lessen the effect of what is sure to be an elliptical rotation, but given he’s out of spare rubber I don’t see him getting back under his own power.

Add desert heat and hangovers and it should be a memorable day.

More like “Llantas jodidas” Did you notice the Doppler reading aerials mounted up front?

The latest news is that they hired a flatbed to go pick it up and take it to a town where there’s s spare diff waiting. In other related news we just got word that some that was coming out today blew a trans. All we need now is a repeat of the 2016 lightning storm and this will be the most memorable event ever.

Update: The B team just pulled up with meat and liquid reinforcements :p

After 2 years of work my backyard deck is basically done. Pavers were much more difficult than I imagined. The roof over the deck has a ceiling fan mounted and lights around the perimeter. Roof is metal and the underside of the roof is finished in aluminum soffit to match the house. Could have been done quicker but my 3yr old apprentice helped quite a bit. Loved seeing her copy what I did and working with her. Best part was her trying to help compact the pavers on Saturday. There are a few small odds and ends to finish up but I’m calling it done. For now..... Before and after pic.

I made some Yamaha Blaster swingarm bushings. They're kind of a pain in the arse, but I wanted to incorporate the oem chain roller and the oem cap is what holds it in place. So I had to make a plunge cut on the backside of the left bushing to act as the cap and thrust washer. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190909/01c8ff62ff2e61f0267b05d9d2a70be3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190909/566e028e42da87b11b2eeaf48a9fb0ae.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190909/a29d03449ea6e4e1399d12e4d9e5e23f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190909/86ea9fc0a354a293ba2001f1de162ab6.jpg

Weekend getaway with my brother and 1 of my sons. I took the XL250R up north a couple weeks ago as it will stay up there from now on. I loaded up my XR400 and headed to the cottage. Good times. Put about 100KM+ on the bikes running the back roads and trails. I wish I had video of my son learning to ride on the XL250R. He launched it in the driveway when he panicked. Ramped it off a tree WOT in 1st gear. Bike was 5 feet in the air sideways. He is fine. Man that vid would have been great. *Fail Army stuff*.

On ferry going to get new boat, then a 100mile trip back to home (at 17knt)

plastikosmd

So got it home. Was a bit more than a 100mile run. 2300rpm (didn’t touch throttle for 6.5 hrs.) Seas went from 1-2 after about 3 hrs to 4-5++ for last 3.5. Boat handled it great. Fuel burn was around 10 gph. It was much better, early in trip but seas got tougher.
Background:
I have always liked Novi/Downeast style. First boat was a Midland 19 foot. The admiral and I had a lot of adventures. We outgrew the CC and moved into a Parker 2520DV. In my quest for more fish and bigger catches we steadily moved the boat further south and east until we were on the sound/ocean and out of protected Narragansett Bay. This led to some consternation from the admiral as the increase and seas lead to some discomfort on her part. (More profanity than nausea.) We also began to appreciate/desire some comforts as we have gotten older. Thus began thesearch for a downeast or Downeast “style” boat with a combination of cruising and fishing capabilities. I began my investigation through local brokers and the Internet. I joined several forums and lurked for information. I reviewed every “downeast” boats on yachtbroker. This provided me 50 or 60 individual makers to focus. Putting aside individual biases I was able to glean a list of wants/needs and coupled that with functionality I wanted.

I needed a boat that could easily be captained by one person (65% usage) yet comfortable for 2 ( 30% usage and we like our space) and expandablity for 4-6 for fishing (5%.)

Eventually, I came across the Albin 31te. Factory downeast “style” boat, (132+/- produced over 14 year+/- period.)

Albin had the right look and function. The marketing slogan of a “fishing machine for the cruising family” was dead on. The 31te was a “BIG” 31. My list seemed a perfect match diesel, single preferred (twin considered), sea capabilities, comfort, 2 berth, no flybridge, cruise comfort in cabin(couch etc) galley/head/shower, Fishing set up including Downriggers, live bait well and fish storage/tackle storage.
Bonus Things (that could be added later) AC, genset/solar, updated electronics.

As I was not looking for a project = a well-documented and well cared for Boat was key.

The people that I interacted with on the albin forum were consummate professionals, willing to provide information and pictures/sea trials if I desired.

I made several inquiries regarding the 31te and quickly saw that the boats do not last long.

An Albin forum member reached out to me. He was considering selling but was still well invested in his boat and wanted to see if I was serious. (He was more than happy to keep it.) I was serious and willing to factor in his care and upgrades.

In relatively short order, we met/took a sea trial/spent several hours together and settled on a deal. Both of us couldn’t be happier. The ride sold the admiral. She negotiated and closed the deal.

Ac
3k inverter
2016-2018 electronics

My independent Survey was A+(dry hull/stringers and mechanically perfect)
Boat is well documented including yearly commissioning, haul out and general maintenance since owned. Oil survey every year since owned and it duplicated mine as perfect.

There will be some small changes made and some small things to do.

I've been getting the boat itch lately. Had one about 20 years ago slipped in the marina. Never really appreciated it at the time.

But now I'm older and would like a "condo on the water".....nothing huge but big enough for 2 or 3 couples. My old 27 ft cabin cruiser was kinda enough but a little bigger would be ideal.

I know the phrase..."if it flys floats or fuks rent it"...but I never learn

Agreed, constant maintenance and cost associated with the boat especially on salt water.

In all honesty my wife would probably prefer us just to charter for occasional fishing but I really enjoy going down and working on the boat. In addition as I get older I also expect I will be using it more.
Made a deal with the wife to sell the toy car to upgrade to this boat.

What’s the story on the metal tank? Who made it?

Purchased off ebay from seller "CityofCollectables" store, made and shipped from Hong Kong. Has many models available, Ken Tam was a good guy to work with. Didn't have front rubber guide mounts welded in place or the gas valve bung (adapter) installed which allowed me to place where I needed them for clearance.

What did I do today....

- Got up way too early
- Scooped up my dog and went to hack vines off fruit trees
- Found a wasp nest the hard way
- Got stung at least 10 times
- Went to a clinic and let a nice man stick a sharp object in my butt
- Bought a used truck
- Rebuilt another shock (second one is easy)
- Delivered the shocks for a gas charge
- Figured our why my beer fridge isn’t cold
- Build a T-Post Puller, ran out of wire and had to TIG it, starting to enjoy that little machine
- Cleaned the shop while listening to a hockey game
- Going to watch Netflix and pass-out

I like how he included his resume in the eBay description.

SELLER BACKGROUND

I was a local Southern California Pro Motocross racer in the mid and late 70's. In the early 80's I got a job as a project engineer in the R & D department at Kawasaki Motors International where I did test riding, engineering, fabrication, and overall development of off road bikes, and atv's. I did virtually every second of the development testing of the 84, 85, and 86 Tecate's during this time.

I also raced in the Pro class with the 84 pre-production Tecate that we used for testing which I modified with just a Harry Klemm port job, pipe, and plain old fifty dollar 36mm Mikuni carburetor, and I holeshot and won several races with it, including the last short track race at Saddleback Park, where I beat Jimmy White (who was the reigning champion at the time) and the factory honda riders with their bazillion dollar works trikes etc, so I know these trikes better than most anyone.

So whatever happened to Barnett? When and why did he sign off this site? I feel like I missed something.

Finishing up on a new x-mas tree stand. I put up two 25-30’ live trees at my work. In the past we have always had issues trying to adjust the tree for straightness once it was up. These trees weigh between 5-600 pounds so once they were up in the previous stand I designed it was almost impossible to adjust them. 260649 this is last year stand. It sat on a base that was hinged. In theory you slide the trunk in, walk it up, and lock into place. Because of the adjustment issues we had I decided that an independent adjustable leg system would work best, put together with hitch pins for easy assembly and adjusting. 260650 this is what we came up with. We in theory should be able to adjust for straightness one of two ways By either the adjusting holes in the legs itself or by the turnbuckle. Here is the nearly finished design. 260651 I figure the only way this will really work is if I can hoist the trees and suspend them so I can get everything straight before lowering it to the ground. I am fortunate enough to have a structural beam running above where I need to stand these trees, so I’m thinking a electric hoist will do the job. Once everything is in place and straight we will attach the turnbuckle and cable and bolt the foot end to Two 3/4” pieces of plywood screwed together with carpet attached to the underneath so we can slide de the trees into place once the lights are on.

Plastico,
Fluid film? What is that stuff? Is it like a permanent undercoating or something that you apply yearly? If permanent are you not concerned it will lock in place any dirt or rust that is already there?

plastikosmd
11-15-2019, 03:55 PM
not permanent, for new England salt, I replace it yearly. For indoor rust busting or loosening I prefer boshield. Outdoors, the boshield washes off too quick to make it through a season. fluidfilm has a heavy wax/lanolin content that keeps it soft/around a while. good stuff. I haven't found anything better as of yet. (it beats motor oil and a dirt road by far!)

I may consider giving that a try. Here in Iowa we have the same problem with road salt. Do you have a lift, or is that something you lay on the shop floor and do? A lift would be ideal.

I will post a pic of after

Took about 10 minutes on my back to do
Gun aerosolized it well an at 100 psi I could blast 5-6’ in front of me

The only fluid I have found to really permanently treat body panels, and you have to apply it a bunch of times, is atf. I've always used used atf on my applications, I have a small "pressure pot" that I use to spray it. Fluid film is good stuff, and most likely better on you and the environment to boot.

I have a friend who swears by Fluidfilm for spraying his vehicles up here in NE Alberta. Personally I've always got my vehicles done at shops that apply "Krown Rustproofing". I believe it's a Canadian product but has 250 locations across the US and Europe. This stuff is amazing and will eliminate a lot of future electrical corrosion issues as well as protecting the metal. It will actually creep/wick up a panel to some degree. It's very popular with highway maintenance departments for their salt/sand trucks to protect them. It does wear off over time so it's not a 1 and done application.

The b-link channel mounted on the ply wood will give us an additional option for adjusting along with the turnbuckle itself. My 16 inch chainsaw isn’t going to cut it (no pun intended) on this property. You guys can keep your spiders, damn things scare the bejeezus outa me especially in under houses (crawl spaces).
Anyway I gotta few days off so I’m pouring stuff. This 85 Tri-z throttle rubber piece was a very hard mold to make!!!! After three tries(fails) and two mold “adjustments” I finally have two in a row that are nice. Yay!!! The pocket/sleeve for the frame attach point actually worked first try. I’ll show the actual mold later today, it’s busy at the moment.
I’m not even sure if these are sought after, I’m making 3 or 4 for a member here. But the mold is mine so I’ll probably make a few extras just in case.
Thanks for looking (I still can’t believe the mold actually worked)
260824 260825 260826 260827

The plastic tongue depressor is actually part of the mold, I drilled a couple holes in it so the mold material would hold it in place. There’s a metal locating pin in bottom of mold to center it(it’s working). I said I’d put a mold pic so.

Failure by design, started mounting the doors on the Jeep after buying hinge sockets. The upper hinge was way off to start.
https://i.postimg.cc/DZmzd2PF/23-FB2-C8-F-B372-4825-95-AB-8161-D90-C0674.jpg (https://postimg.cc/VrQ1zPhH)

I considered just making a new socket where it sat but after looking closer, not only were the upper hinges mounted low, they were on the wrong doors.
I then noted that the lower hinges were also swapped making for a large door gap.
https://i.postimg.cc/Z5xM3qzM/97-BB1-E2-C-16-FE-464-C-9097-A9-C7-E897-DF92.jpg (https://postimg.cc/yDWjCsdm)

So everything came apart and put together the right way
First the lowers installed, gap fixed.https://i.postimg.cc/Kv42bVwW/F8-EF1792-24-FA-4-E3-F-8232-C593-A21-A8-C69.jpg (https://postimg.cc/ykq5XfVh)

There is a missing filler piece creating a gap at window frame, u can see where the prior owner had affixed a shim. I may use the old holes and put some flashing on for the time being. https://i.postimg.cc/yYXDnsbR/56-BE1892-5-E1-A-48-FA-93-CD-3-B134-E9-DD526.jpg (https://postimg.cc/KRjc8SFc)

Doors are just for winter driveway plowing, the other 3 seasons, no doors.
I suspect the prior owner put lower hinges on backwards first leading to further and further errors. The other possibility is the lack of the filler piece and a crazy work around

These things always seem to find me. In case you don't recognize it, it's an old 70's bobcat 610. I've had 6? Of the older clutch drive ones. 4 cylinder Wisconsin. These are what started the skid steer revolution. They almost always need lots of tinkering. Parts are still available and there's lots of guys still using them. They still have their place, and will out perform modern compact tractors for loader work.

I resealed the drive pulley, repaired exhaust still have to adjust drive clutches, change oil, fix wiring, charging issues, amongst other things.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191215/7368a0eee571cff6768fb9970e5a9ea3.jpg

Cool, The other rods in the background are the old ones that we’ve had for 27 years. They have held up well but time to actually get something new. We went with the two trolling, two spinner for live lining live bait and two conventionals for bottom fishing.

We will keep the old poles for friends and family use.

I hear you about the time aspect knappy

There always seems like there’s something else better to do. With the new upgrade in the boat it has forced us to use it more which is encouraging.
As I also get older, I’m hopeful I can spend more time on the water. I considered a six pack license versus commercial fishing license but we will see

Shop time will be few and far between over the next few weeks sadly. A quick project on the jeep and I got to use the Forge

Now that I have the doors mounted, only one door had a restraint peg and I did not have any of the original straps. I also do not have a sewing machine, so I cut some binder straps for the restraints, some old chain and tacked it together as a buckle(s). Hopefully that will work in the short term. Also forged a pin to match the one I had.

It was really hard to leave this place and go home. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191228/cb55357965ce6cb2724bca64f8d29546.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191228/01c25b5bcf221996456e4ca46210d02e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191228/93f5d979e702c66fd3acac9063c6f8d6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191228/3c8ed5ec871e81820a27641691881995.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191228/c894a461d588561099bde95000ad163f.jpg

Dang iron, that looks nice right about now!
As stated in post #2935 of this thread, we decided to head out for an outing in the afternoon. The ice formed very rough this year and with little snow makes for a jolting ride. I guess the 54 year old weld that joins the front wheel yoke to the tiller bar on the "tri-x-side" had had enough abuse over the years and sent me in to a nose dive onto the ice when the front wheel exited stage left. Luckily we were going slow due to the rough conditions and we were only a few miles from home by then. I had to secure the front onto the quad and reverse all the way home dragging the poor girl suspended in the air. There doesn't seem to be much other damage so with a little help from my son samjp22, we'll have her back on 3 in no time......I hope!

Update

Managed to remove the liner, some very nice workmanship went into that thing. I guess I’m going to build one out of stainless steel, but I’ll never be able to duplicate the tin work that went into making the original tub.

Seems in the process that I displaced a small ant colony. Still not sure exactly where they are, they keep popping up out of nooks and crannies all over the place on this thing.

Plastic, I was thinking of putting a single cylinder Myanmar diesel in mine, not if it shakes that bad. Suppose I could make some sort of rubber mount for it like a HD.

Spent my day dissecting a grease trap at a school, I've put in 13 of them this summer, and so far this one is the worst yet. Super tight area, has to be in operation on monday for school. Fun fun.

You guys taking about single banger Diesel engines reminded me of a machine called a Pasquali that a guy I worked for had. That thing was the most obnoxious beast I’ve ever driven, but it pulled like no other single I’ve ever been around.

Had one w front plow. Mechanical steer so you had to be careful off-road. A dip or rock could force the machine to articulate and violently turn the steering wheel resulting in a broken hand. Still fun though. I was looking at one last week.

His was set up to till. It did that very well, but driving it from A to B was a chore. Power steering would have been nice.

Added a 2017 KLR650 to my fleet.

I've been wanting a dual sport bike for a little while. I was seriously considering the Africa Twin but am a little turned off of the new adventure lineup. They all seem to be morbidly obese street bikes with 7 inches of travel .....with modes for this and that and abs, traction control, etc.. My old DR650 took me 117000 miles without all the hoopla so I wanted something I could relate to. Got a killer deal on it with only 1800 miles on the clock. Unlike other models with their horribly overpriced aftermarket accessories the KLR enjoys a massive aftermarket that's plentiful and on average under half the cost of its competitors.

The limited riding I've done on it really feels perfect for my needs.

Me and my oldest son have been wanting to take a nice long adventure trip and he is going to pick up a KlR as well. We were thinking from TJ Mexico to Canada. We would need at least 3 weeks but could make it a 2 week trip. My son is a school teacher so although he does summer school he could opt out and have nearly 3 months off in the summer for the trip. I could not. Not only that I hate riding in the summer...just too dang hot.

Started back on this old project. 22LR 1919 browning conversion. I had some pierced primers. Before shortening the spring a bit I considered whether the 22 cartridge was really seated into the 30 caliber “dummy” round. I seated them gently with a press to ensure they sat against the shoulder. There was some “stickiness” in the last 1/16” that makes it hard to seat with thumb pressure. No piercing. I will have to take the dummy rounds and make sure that they are fully cleaned up any cosmoline that is possibly causing the interference.

Sweet, I remember the issues you had before with the primer piercing, nice fix! Here's the dumb Canadian question, is it full auto still or do you have to cock it each time; or semi auto, I forget? Can't say I've ever shot a 1919 with a bipod before! I guess the tripod is a bit of overkill for a .22, lol.

Kite boarding, looks fun, not much real estate around me to pursue such a hobby, and the water is kinda cold!

I've been battling sewer line problems for years, I was going to do a complete new tap but the city is being a PITA about their crappy road I was fixing to dig through. So I am doing a partial repair from the house to the city curb. Technically against city spec as I am digging in the right of way but I'm over it. Found the line outside the basement then traced it to the road. Going to run some new pipe tomorrow. Time off is great!

Was only 5-5 1/2 feet deep. The main in the road is only about 7. Shallow as far as I'm concerned, last sewer repair I did was almost 20' deep.
Crap load of tree roots, pipe had 3 hack job repairs. At least I know the first 48' isn't jammed up. Next time I've got to rip into the road and that gets a little bit tricky

Picked up 1 inch shorter brake line for my elec-project $10 bucks (China most likely). I know this seems odd but works quite well, a heat gun would be to hot I’d think besides I don’t own one. The ends are pressed on parallel but I need about a 20* offset at the rear master end. Well a crock pot, tape to tape it around the edge some steam and heat and 10mins and slight pressure twisting and presto-
Worked great....
Yes that’s buffalo chicken (dinner)
Yes I could have spent more on a correct fit line.
I figured this was somewhat comical so figured I’d share.

replaced all the gd fuel and vacuum lines on my quadrunner. took longer than i’d like to admit. one of the lines from the carb to the pump i had to force a 1/4 splicer barb into the 3/16 line to add a short piece of 1/4 because the barb on the pump is 1/4 and on the carb it’s 3/16, riddle me that?! only line i didn’t replace was the 5/16 carb breather line with the T at the top, didn’t anticipate also needing 5/16 line, it was loose on the carb so i cut it and flipped it so the piece fit snug again and spliced the cut back together. who’s the monster that incorporates 3 different necessary sizes of hose

edit: haha, so i already started it up afterwards and it ran fine but just out of curiosity i wanted to look in the manual to see if i needed to prime the pump or anything or if it’s even possible but before i even found my answer i realized i forgot a critical step! i didn’t remove the engine! Elcamexican, if your looking for a great lifetime roof moss killer, get ahold of some “zinc” new or used wheel weights and silicone them 20 inches apart on your highest roof line (top caps) within a year all the moss will die and the rain will wash it off. The zinc trick my grandfather has used since the 50’s. You won’t be scraping that moss ever again assuming the roof rain water washes over over it. Silicone or if u have a low pitch roof just toss em up there near the top.
